am excited to step into the director role at the CU Cancer Center. In the next decade, we will build upon our foundation of success and enhance the work happening on campus. We are committed to raising the standard of care for our patients and transforming cancer therapies.

At the University of Colorado Cancer Center, we are providing the best care possible to our patients — care that is informed by the latest research and delivered by world-class health care professionals. By combining basic science, translational research and clinical care on one campus, we are transforming cancer care and rapidly changing the therapies available to patients.

Our vision for the next ten years is to support innovative ideas from basic biological discoveries in our labs through translational research. By investing in the entire spectrum of research, we will develop new therapies and improve the lives of our patients.

You’ve Made This Possible Philanthropy is the key driver of translational research, taking discoveries from the labs to the clinics quicker than ever before. In the past three years, private support has allowed us to expand the technology available to our faculty, making the CU Cancer Center an attractive destination for some of the best and brightest minds in cancer research.

In 2017, your philanthropic dollars helped us obtain new technology, from an automated microscope to an x-ray machine and mass spectrometry bio-imaging device. This new technology helped us expand the research we are able to do at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

We have also put philanthropy to work to recruit top faculty. Recently, Terry Fry, MD, joined the CU Cancer Center and Children’s Hospital Colorado to continue his work in immunology. Dr. Fry and many other bright minds on campus are pushing the boundaries of the possible and transforming patient care. They are our best resource for addressing the complex issues of medicine.

Fueled by Philanthropy The CU Cancer Center has made remarkable progress in cancer care and basic research, changing lives throughout the Rocky Mountain region and beyond.

Our focus has remained on providing the very best care possible today while developing the therapies of tomorrow. To make this vision a reality, we are recruiting and retaining top talent to push the field of cancer research forward. With the strength of our best and brightest minds, we are transforming the way we treat cancer.

These incredible minds are all part of Colorado’s only National Cancer Institute-designated consortium comprehensive cancer center. By placing all these talented physicians and researchers in one institution, we have become a premier cancer care destination for patients throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Most of these patients are treated in the state-of-the-art UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, recently ranked 15th out of 5,000 hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Thousands of patients visit our facility every year to receive life-changing cancer treatment.

And even more benefit from our community outreach, basic science research and remote second opinion options.

As we provide the latest clinical care options, our robust research operation is developing the therapies of tomorrow. Our faculty attract more than $79 million in annual cancer research funding in addition to philanthropic support.
