• U.S. News and World Report ranks us in the top 15% of pharmacy schools in the country.

• We are ranked #11 for National Institutes of Health research funding among all pharmacy schools in the U.S. • Today, 95% of the class of 2018 are employed in a pharmacy position.

• Graduates of the class of 2019 who applied and participated in the PGY1 2019 Residency Match had a 70% success rate, beating the national match rate of 67%.

The Center for Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention continues to combat our nation’s opioid crisis by facilitating interdisciplinary research, identifying and promoting evidence-based clinical practices, educating health care and public health practitioners, and testing, implementing, and promoting new models of care for the treatment of pain and substance use disorders.

CU Pharmacy is helping people with breakthrough technology. Our scientists are taking part in a groundbreaking clinical trial to treat patients with a debilitating form of epilepsy; exploring how milk particles could be used as a form of edible chemotherapy; personalizing cancer treatment; discovering compounds to treat giardia and brain-eating infections; and engineering cells to be used as pharmaceutical agents.

• Our pharmacy experts are leading the way in understanding the role of cannabis in health care — from treating back pain to determining its use in cancer care.

YOU’VE MADE THIS POSSIBLE We remain committed to attracting and retaining the very best students and faculty, and your support helps us reach this goal. In 2019, CU Pharmacy added three new scholarships to help students cover the costs of a world-class education.

Philanthropy is also critical to our research operations. With your support, we have spearheaded multiple research projects including identifying a link between uncontrolled diabetes and depression, and discovering new therapies for patients with severe epilepsy. This research, and many other research efforts at the school, are producing tangible results that will soon change lives.

Central to the success of our students is the opportunity to attend conferences. This is an important part of the curriculum, enabling future leaders to learn from professionals around the world and, oftentimes, present their own research. This gives them valuable experience within the broader field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. Philanthropy helps makes such travel possible.

GLENN D. AND JENNIFER M. APPELT SCHOLARSHIP In 2019, Jennifer Appelt and her daughter, Christy Allen, created the Glenn D. and Jennifer M. Appelt Scholarship to honor the late Glenn Appelt, a beloved pharmaceutical sciences professor. They hope that this scholarship will give future generations of students the opportunity to attend CU Pharmacy.
