National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management The NEBOSH National Certificate in Environmental Management is designed to provide a sound knowledge about environmental management.

Course Content The qualification focuses on UK law and environmental management systems. The qualification is divided into 2 units: • NEC1: Management and control of environmental hazards • NEC2: Environmental practical applications Students are assessed by a written examination and a practical fire assesment of the student’s own workplace.

Who is the course for? Managers and supervisory staff who need to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation.

Learning outcomes • Principles of fire and explosion • Causes and prevention of fires • Fire protection in buildings • Ensuring the safety of people in the event of fire • Be able to carry out, unaided, a fire risk assessment • Be able to prepare a recommendations report for management.


NEBOSH New fire regulatory reform (fire safety 2005) places a responsibility on employers and those in control of premises to ensure they assess fire risks and take steps to minimise those risks and safeguard people in the event of a fire.
