REALITY

by Johan David Garay Dingler

In abstract terms, reality is the living space that we have to fulfill our needs, desires and talents.

Who are you?

Alright, reality depends on it, let me help you. Let’s take for example this blank space:

Not clear yet?

Ok, let’s draw a circle so we can see it:

Inside

Not clear enough? Let’s add the tags then:

I think that’s pretty clear. That’s who you are. But when you define yourself you see the circle with different tags, like: Me on the inside and the rest of the world on the outside. But really, was there any difference? That initial blank space is the same with or without the lines, or labels. Just as reality itself. Our ancestors used words to mentally separate ‘food’ from ‘danger’ from ‘shelter’, but consciousness really comes from separating ourselves from the world, and it is only from our individual perspective that we are able to perceive reality.

Reality is not that. It is that first impartial and meaningless blank form of existence, but those lines we drew as language turned into our identity, and from it comes our idea of reality. That’s what’s really going on when we talk about it.
