Grado en Medicina Degree in Medicine

Sofya Shustrova 4th year Medical Student From: Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Russia. Why I chose UNAV Medicine? The School’s reputation and rankings. Why I chose the International Program? Have part of my studies in English in the first two years helped me while I was improving my Spanish. This program has let me keep options open for possible specializations and work in other countries.

What I like the most about the International Program? Universidad de Navarra has a lot of agreements with different universities around the world, and we have a chance to see and learn medicine in different countries from different specialists. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change anything.

Luis I Daffener 3rd year Medical Student From: Dingolfing, Germany. Why I chose UNAV Medicine? I chose to study at the UNAV because of the great opportunities I have after finishing my studies. Since it is one of the best universities in Spain, I have many options in Spain and I have the possibility to work in the USA or return to Germany. Why I chose the International Program? The International Program provides students

the base level to work at an international setting or who want access to state of the art research that is published in English. What I like most about the International Program? I get to meet people from different countries.

Andrés Calva López 4th year Medical Student From: Born in Cancun, Mexico, but lived most of my life in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Why I chose UNAV Medicine? I came one summer before graduating from high school and really liked the School of Medicine, the opportunities and resources they had available to prepare their students.

Alumnos de la Facultad durante una sesión práctica sobre emergencias. School of Medicine students during an emergency practical session.

Why I chose the International Program? My goal has always been to do my residency training and eventually my fellowship in the U.S. The International Program not only allows you to take classes in English, but the School of Medicine also offers electives imparted by professors from the U.S. and other Englishspeaking countries. We also have the opportunity to go abroad for international clinical rotations and international research rotations. I am also very glad the School of Medicine offers a ‘practice’ USMLE Step 1, in

order for us to get an accurate picture of where we stand compared to American medical students, and our chances of doing well on the real thing. What I like the most about the International Program? I think it would definitely be the agreements the University of Navarra has with other medical schools all over Europe, Asia, Latin America and the U.S. This will allow me to better prepare myself for when I apply for residency programs abroad, and having undertaken clinical and research rotations in the U.S. will definitely allow me to familiarize myself with their system and become a more competent candidate for their selection process.
