2018 Campaign is Underway!

The United Way of Greater Kingsport (UWGK) has raised $2.97 million, or 85%, of its $3.5 million campaign goal. The dollars raised through the campaign remain within our Greater Kingsport community to improve lives within the areas of health, education and financial stability. UWGK is able to leverage funds to support 43 programs and 31 member agencies to sustain positive community impact. Join us as we fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community!

Andy Wampler, Attorney at Wilson Worley, PC, and United Way of Greater Kingsport's 2018 Board President is inviting you to be a part of our campaign. He remarks, "It takes every person in our community to create change. Through combined efforts and teamwork, we are able to raise funds to support these 43 programs and 31 member agencies and watch them grow, flourish, and positively affect this region we call home. The United Way of Greater Kingsport is diligently utilizing every resource it has to tackle root cause issues and make a positive impact on the Greater Kingsport community. Our 2018 theme - United We Fight. United We Win. -truly is a testament to this community and the people in it. I invite you to join us as we strive to reach our goal of $3.5 million dollars, so that we can continue to improve the lives of every person in our community!"

Fall is in the Air! It's Fall Y'all! It's the time of year for crisp air, falling leaves and pumpkins. This is the time of year, that I just enjoy saying, "Wow!" Whether it's a hike through the woods with a torrent of falling leaves, viewing a gorgeous sunset, or admiring my neighbor's beautiful sugar maple, it's the season for admiration.

At United Way, it's also our season of saying, "Wow!" As our billboards and advertising are visible in the community, we are hearing from many of our donors once again pledging their generosity to helping those in need in our community. As we receive these donations and pledges, we say "Wow!" As we speak to groups at company workplaces, civic clubs or our restaurant campaigns and hear the stories of why people give, we are thankful.

Particularly this year, I'm thankful for the dichotomy of the ages that support us-- from a young family member who has just started working, to the elder statesman of our community, Mr. Bob Miller, who turns 100 this month. Mr. Miller has been

giving to United Way for over 70 years.

An investment in United Way is an investment in improving lives in our community, and our region. This will help ensure our community remains a beautiful place to live, both inside and out, for future generations. If you have already made your gift or pledge, we sincerely thank you! If you have not already made a pledge or gift to the 2018-19 campaign, please take this opportunity to do so.

2018 Food City Celebrity Bagging Event

Celebrity Bagging is an annual fundraising event hosted by Food City on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. During Celebrity Bagging, volunteer celebrities bag groceries for a short length of time at one of the Food City locations across the region and collect tips to benefit each store's local United Way. We use the term "celebrity" very loosely - that is, ANYONE can create a volunteer team to bag groceries together! Even if you don't consider yourself to be a celebrity, you are to us!
