Bolton branch participated in the Bolton Pride event at bank holiday weekend, including being on the rally. And we had a stall.
The General Election has been called!!
Working people need an end to this callous cruel government and its austerity programme.
To do this YOU have to vote. It is easy to register to vote and with the new ID regulations it’s easier to vote by postal vote.
We also showed the film ' Pride, (2014)’ at Bolton Library - a film telling the story of the Gay and Lesbian movement who recognised the threats from the government to them as a community was replicated in different forms The alliances which the campaign forged between the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community and British labour groups proved to be an important turning point in the progression of LGBT matters in the United Kingdom. Miners' labour groups began to support, endorse and participate in various gay pride events throughout the UK, including leading London's Lesbian and Gay Pride parade in 1985. At the 1985 Labour Party conference in Bournemouth, a resolution committing the party to the support of LGBT rights passed, due to block voting support from the National Union of Mineworkers The miners' groups were also among the most outspoken allies of the LGBT community in the 1988 campaign against Section 28. If anyone is in any doubt about Pride Events remaining a protest, they only have to look at how the Tories have started pandering to fringe transphobic groups with their promise now to look at the Equality Act if they win. They want to take away hard fought for rights from our community. Make no mistake they won't stop at our community; they will come for you next Stand with us and make sure Pride remains a protest

We are getting a new branch banner. It’s been designed and will be created by artists Louise Garman and Andy Smith. Our remit was a banner for our future generation of activists. We were not disappointed with their take on our ideas and cannot wait to see the end product!
Ellen Strange Memorial Walk
Come along and join us on this emotional walk across Holcombe Hill Moors on Saturday 6th July
The walk commemorates Ellen Strange who murdered her husband, John Broadley, on Holcombe Moor over 200 years ago after suffering years of abuse; it also serves as a reminder of the many victims of domestic violence still suffering today, and the names of the women who have been murdered by their partners or family members over the last year are read out
Sadly it highlights the ongoing need to raise awareness of how to access support when in need
We leave Emmanuel Church at 10.30am. The church is next to the Shoulder of Mutton Pub use postcode BL8 4LZ
We should return to the church around 12 30-1pm, where there will be a buffet lunch
And finally, does your notice board look like this?
