Sarah Ashley Clayton Utz, Brisbane Bachelor of Laws graduate

With a graduate position at Clayton Utz in Brisbane, Sarah Ashley is learning from top lawyers in the field, attending court, researching and working on cases.

“When I decided to study law, it was because I knew I would enjoy the challenge. I’m interested in helping people and understanding the systems and structures of corporations. I’m working with several lawyers at the firm who are incredibly successful and very generous in mentoring me,” she said.

“I learned so much at Southern Cross, it was the foundation I needed for my workplace where I’m learning, developing and growing as not only a lawyer but a person as well.”

Sarah currently works in the Environment and Sustainable Development team following her stint in Workplace Relations, Employment and Safety.During her studies at Southern Cross, Sarah completed a highly soughtafter clerkship at the firm and volunteered at a community legal centre on the Gold Coast alongside qualified lawyers.

“I chose Southern Cross because I wanted somewhere where the lecturers knew me by name and provided one-on-one assistance. The course was definitely challenging but I learned so much and the staff were always so willing to help.”
