2022-2023 ANNUAL REPORT
MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The 2022-2023 school year was a remarkable success for the Union Schools Education Foundation. I’m deeply thankful for the productive year we had, and I’m truly grateful to our trustees, supporters, and the Union community for making it all possible. We raised the roof at “Hats Off to Union...A Derby Day Soirée” on May 6, 2023. We had nearly 600 guests at the event and raised an impressive $352,000 for various programs in the district. Additionally, Union’s dedicated faculty and staff pledged nearly $80,000 through the Month of Giving campaign, and Union families contributed over $5,000 to #10forU.
These funds enable USEF to keep supporting a district-wide range of programs aligning with the district’s goal of achieving “100% graduation.” Our growing list of supported programs include Innovative Classroom Grants, Pre-K Camp, UHS College & Career Center, For The Girls, EDGE, Student Leadership, Special Olympics, Union’s Teacher and Support persons of the Year, New Teacher Induction, and Graduation Celebration. Your ongoing support for the Foundation, our teachers, and, most importantly, our students is greatly appreciated.
On behalf of myself and the Union Schools Education Foundation Board of Trustees...THANK YOU!

UNION TEACHERS & STAFF
Union Teachers & Staff pledged $77,154 to USEF during the 20222023 Month of Giving campaign. These donations came as one-time donations and payroll deductions. This opportunity confirms the trust our Union employees instill in the Foundation.
UNION STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Union High School seniors prepared for life after graduation at the 4th annual Beyond U Senior Conference. Organized by the Union College & Career Center and sponsored by USEF, students were bused to the OSU Tulsa campus for a full day of sessions by local professionals covering a wide array of topics in college and career choices and lessons in “adulting.”
Imagine if every Union parent donated at least $10 for every student they have enrolled at Union - that $10 would make a huge impact district-wide. In 2022, you and your family helped support the Foundation’s mission with over $5,000 in donations!
The 2023 #10forU campaign will coincide with Union's district-wide Month of Giving. All donations collected will directly benefit Union teachers and students through program funding.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
FOR THE GIRLS
USEF’s newest program, FOR THE GIRLS, was created in response to inadequate access to feminine products for our female students at Union. This innovative program provides feminine products to school nurses who are now able to distribute these products to students in need.
A recent study conducted by Always revealed one in five girls miss school because they do not have feminine products. Nearly one-third of parents are worried about their ongoing ability to afford period products - this is an issue known as period poverty. In light of these facts and the need expressed by district nurses, USEF created the FOR THE GIRLS campaign. USEF trustees have pledged $1,500 in annual support and we have received an additional $3,600 in donations in support of our school nurses and students in need.
PRE-K CAMP
Pre-K Camp was initially offered at eight elementary schools at Union. With funding from USEF, the program has now expanded to all thirteen elementary schools. Pre-K Camp is a two-day summer camp for our incoming Pre-K students where they meet their teachers, make new friends, and learn routines of the school day so they are confident to begin their journeys as students. It leads to less tears on the first day of school- not so much for the parents, but there’s no help for that!
This past summer, 411 students attended Pre-K Camp at no cost to their families. USEF provided materials for each site and gifted Night Before Pre-K book to all students. This was a great way to kick off the school year and welcome our newest Union students!

2022 USEF GRANTS
Each Fall, USEF enriches Union education by providing classroom/site grants at all grade levels throughout the district. This year, we funded a record 145 classroom projects valued at nearly $120,000. These projects include curriculum-based materials focusing on STEM, literacy, geography, early learning programs, ELL, speech & auditory development, art & music, physical fitness, photography, and so much more! Our teachers continue to share how impactful these grants are for their classrooms and we love seeing them in action!
