Donora Historical Society Promotes Concert and Bridge Renaming The Donora Historical Society will be selling tickets at the museum for the upcoming Greater Monongahela Area Community Band concert on Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Ringgold Middle School in Finleyville. Tickets are $5. The proceeds of the concert will benefit the Donora and Monongahela historical societies and libraries. We had such a wealth of information on prominent African-Americans from Donora that we are continuing the discussion from February into March. If you have any additional information or pictures that can be shared at the Historical Society for future reference, please stop by the museum. All documents and pictures can be scanned and returned. The Historical Society has been selling the St. Dominic’s Church keepsake booklet at a brisk pace. The price of the booklet is $15. Stop by the museum and get your copy before we run out. Look for more details on a special open house and reception at the museum the day of the dedication of the renaming of the Donora-Monessen Bridge to the Stan Musial Bridge. The bridge dedication will take place close to the bridge site and the reception will follow at our museum. Also, look for the launching of the Donora Historical Society website. The Donora Historical Society and Smog Museum is located at the intersection of Sixth and McKean in the heart of Donora, and is open on Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. or by appointment. If you have additional questions about the society, museum, meeting or possibly volunteering, feel free to stop by or email us at DonoraHistoricalSociety@gmail.com or by calling 724-823-0364 and leaving a message.
