ALLY PROGRAM: Identifies and trains a network of faculty, administrators and staff who are ready to offer support and information to LGBTQ+ students, employees and others across the full spectrum of gender expression
THE COMMITTEE ON LGBTQ+ AFFAIRS: Advocates for equity and equality for LGBTQ+ issues; reviews policies and programs that might affect the community; and helps senior leadership address these specific needs and concerns

LIVING AT UNION
HOUSING: In line with Union’s commitment to inclusion and belonging, every student has access to gender-inclusive housing, which does not require roommates to be of the same legal sex.
CAPITAL REGION RESOURCES: There are numerous resources available throughout Schenectady and the greater Capital Region, including support networks, medical and health services, STI testing, Planned Parenthood, and religious and spiritual organizations.
COURSES: Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies, a seminar in Queer Theory, and electives in Literature and Sexuality, Queer Science and Health, Queering Masculinity, and Global Perspectives on Queerness. In addition, classes in many disciplines across the College incorporate content related to LGBTQ+ lives and cultures. From representations of queerness in classical antiquity to the psychology of women and gender, intersectional approaches to LGBTQ+ material connect sexuality to class, gender, race, ethnicity and other identity categories. While individual course offerings may differ from term to term, LGBTQ+ content can regularly be found in classes in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

VALERIE J. HOFFMAN (’75) LECTURE SERIES: Features feminist and queer scholars who emphasize an intersectional approach to understanding personal, political, and professional identities.
WICKER WELLNESS CENTER: Ally-trained staff offers comprehensive medical and mental health services, including:
reproductive and sexual health
women’s health
counseling and testing for STIs
counseling and advocacy for sexual assault survivors
referral and online resources
gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) injections individual and group counseling to address LGBTQ+ issues
telehealth counseling with the choice for a mental health therapist based on gender preference
BREAZZANO FITNESS CENTER: Offers a workout room specifically open to women and gender nonconforming individuals. The room is equipped with two squat racks, free weights, cardio machines and open space.
GENDER-NEUTRAL BATHROOMS: Located in the admissions center, campus center, community center, field house, library, gym, residences and many academic buildings.
