Cátedra Global The challenges from our region constantly find themselves inmerge with the world’s.

Universidad del Norte presents Cátedra Global to the community, a space where our issues can be looked upon a global sphere.

Cátedra Global gives a continuance to Cátedra de las Americas, Cátedra Asia Pacifico y Cátedra Estados Unidos. Events that have been an important landmark in our university’s history.

In this opportunity, we count with distinguished experts in a variety of subjects; culture, science and politics.

With more than 60 conferences and guests, Universidad del Norte gives you a warm welcome!

Transportation from/to the airport The Via Norte company, has been selected as the transportation provider for the participants in Cátedra Global.

A properly identified member of this company will be waiting for you at the time of your arrival to Barranquilla at the International Airport Ernesto Cortissoz, as well for your departure.

Please let us know in case any of the following situations occur: • Delay in your travel itinerary due to flights,airports, and/or last minute changes and/or delay in connections, Customs, etc.

• If you arrive to Barranquilla and transportation is not available, Airport Ernesto Cortissoz has a certified Taxi station, in which you can ask for transportation to the hotel, after notifying our organizing team. The transfer costs will not exceed $ 15 USD.

AGENDA As soon as you arrive in Barranquilla, you will receive an agenda with a detailed schedule of the activities we have planned for you during your stay.

Please claim your welcome package, either at the front desk of the hotel or with one of our staff members.

We would like to make your time as productive and enjoyable as possible during your visit.

For this purpose, this agenda will include your academic and social activities for your entire visit.

Hotel We would like to assure all of ours guests have an enjoyable stay in Barranquilla, and that is the reason why we have chosen the GHL Collection Hotel as your place of acommodation. It is located in one of the most exclusive areas in the city, and we assure you that your stay will be a very pleasant one.

During your stay as you guest in the hotel, you will have access to the following services:  Single room accommodation  Daily breakfast  Lunch or dinner (up to 35.000 COP per day) per guest, to be used at one of the restaurants available at the Hotel  Wireless Internet Service  Hotel Fees included

Transportation Hotel Uninorte Every day at the front desk, a member of our staff, identified with Cรกtedra Global/Uninorte tags, will be assisting you to your destination in accordance with your particular agenda.

A daily route has been established between the hotel and Uninorte. A detailed schedule will be placed in your Agenda, and you will find it attached in this email.

Presentation guidelines

We have programmed a specific structure for each panel, symposium or conference that will take place during Cรกtedra Global.

We suggest you contact your Event Coordinator so you can be aware of the specific guidelines for your sessions.

Audiovisual aids Each room is equipped with a PC, internet access, a microphone, screen and a video beam. If you are planning to bring a Mac to use it in your lectures, please make sure you bring an adapter with you.

Medical assistance All the academic activities of Cรกtedra Global have been programmed at our Campus where we have a new medical care center within the new Health Building.

However, participants and lecturers should bring a valid medical insurance with international coverage during their visit, in case you need any additional medical care off campus.

Immigration entry to Colombia When you arrive, you must present the official letter of invitation to Cรกtedra Global to the immigration officer, who should stamp your passport with the PIP 6 permit (Permit of Entry issued for academic and cultural activities). Universidad del Norte, as a higher education institution, must also report your visit to Migraciรณn Colombia.

Once your visit to Colombia is over, you will have up to 15 days to send a scanned copy of your passport (passport page with the biographical data and the page with the entry and exit stamp) so it can be reported to the authorities by Universidad del Norte.
