New acad scheme set for freshmen studes in 2018 Curricular revisions on progress Casandra Balala, Jonnabeth Ortega and Evonrey Latagan

Due to the new educational landscape implemented in the country, Bicol University (BU) will undergo curricular revision in all its offered courses aligned with the K to 12 program set for incoming freshmen in 2018.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Helen Llenaresas said that the curricular revision would be competency-based and outcome-based education in accordance with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) memorandum orders.

“Well, now we are sure that we’re at par with other countries or other universities in the Philippines and also in Asia at least in the ASEAN countries,” she added.

Last September, the university conducted a special academic council for the curricular revision of different courses in the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), College of Nursing, College of Science (CS), and College of Business, Economics and Management (CBEM).

In CAL, the curricu-

lum of Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Speech and Theater was proposed to be renamed into Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPeA) with 149 units from 140. Meanwhile, BA in Journalism will now have 158 units from 146, BA in Broadcasting, from 155 to 161 units; and AB English Program which will become AB English Language, from 140 to 149 units.

CHED declares BU as model HEI Sheila Mae Sajuela and Jasmin Salvacion

Proving its status as a world-class institution, Bicol University (BU) was hailed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as one of the model Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines.

According to Christian E. Rivero, Education Supervisor II of CHED, as a model university, BU will serve as the host for the conduct of University Dynamics

Laboratory (UDL) under the Philippine Higher Education System (Phil-HECS) Executive Development Program (EDP).

"BU was hailed as a model university because of its center of excellence in instruction, research, extension, and production," Rivero said.

Four Bicol University alumni are among the 15 handpicked participants of the Design Center of the Philippines, an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry, for the first batch of its New Design Graduated Training (NGDT) Program.

Pioneer graduates of the BS Industrial Design of Bicol University (BU) College of Industrial Technology, Jilyn Astillero, Gerbert Balaoro, Mark Joecil Escame, and Angel Kris Mayor were chosen as participants of the NDGT program.

Under the agency’s Designer Competency Development Program, this track aims to bridge the gap between the academe and the industry through an experience-oriented platform and deepen the commitment of the fresh design graduates to the fundamentals of good design, design thinking and the business of design.

“I was really happy being qualified in the NDGT Program. It was an answered prayer for me because the fact that there were a lot of design graduates from very big and well-known schools in Manila who also applied,” Balaoro said.

This 12-month long program which started last July 10, 2017 is implemented in three phases: the incubation which happened on the first three months of the training, followed by an apprenticeship for another three months and lastly, the atelier which will take place in the remaining six months. The organizers will be eliminating participants whom they think have not been productive in each phase of the program.

Each stage is composed of a particular set of activities. The incubation stage includes talks on creative thinking, de-

sign management, design business, crafts exploration and product design dissection and restructuring.

The next phase which is the apprenticeship is where trainees will be set to apply the learnings in the first phase in a design studio. This stage will also expose the participants to different international exhibition and trade fairs that will allow them to have a global appreciation of design as a business. Lastly, in the Atelier phase, participants will be engaged in actual design practice in a design firm.

“It was fun being with different personalities having the same passion.

At the same time, I am learning a lot from design professionals whose intellects and experiences in the design industry are very commendable,” Balaoro stated.

He also encourages the BU design students

to apply for these kinds of trainings that will elevate their brand as future designers of the country.

Initially constructed as a convention center of the university, the Bicol University (BU) International House will soon become the administrative building of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) and the College of Business Economics and Management (CBEM) effective in 2018.

However, he further explained that at that time, BU President Arnulfo Mascariñas was already contemplating to just convert the Int’l House into the Daraga Campus Admin Building.

Mascariñas explained that the Daraga Campus should be maximized for educational purposes due to the limited space available in the location.

Bigornia also stated that the original purpose

was abolished because it was not sustainable due to the lack of capacity.

“Dapat kung may convention center ka, may convention program din, di pa naman siguro tayo ganon ka-ready. Another problem is, the parking space is too small but if it will be [coverted] to an admin. building, retrofit sya,” Bigornia added.

Meanwhile, Bigornia stated they will still need to add other components such as fences and a parking area which will add to the costs. He confirmed that the building will be ready for utilization next year.

When asked as to what

The Int’l House was launched last January 2014 during former BU President Fay Lauraya’s term as a stepping stone towards internationalization and was supposed to be finished last April 2015 but it was delayed and finished this 2017 with a different purpose.

BS Psychology in BU opens by 2019 Jonnabeth Ortega and Fatima Rozen Mirabueno

Clutching the pressing need to address social problems in the society, Bicol University (BU) will offer Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology in 2019, which soon may be the only State University and College (SUC) in Bicol region offering the program.

Attorney Alex B. Nepomuceno, CSSP dean, stated that there is such a need for the offering of BS Psychology under the College of Social Science and Philosophy (CSSP) considering the demand of the industry and the market.

Moreover, he explained that they prefer to offer BS Psychology over AB Psychology since it is more grounded on science and is in relation to the CHED Memorandum and the conceptualized track that CSSP is offering—the Educational, Industrial and Clinical Psychology.

General Education Department Head Dr. Rudya A. Roallos said that the faculty in Psychology is already done with the proposed curriculum and feasibility study to support the demand for the offering of the course.

ministrative Council, Academic Council, and the Board of Regents must be completed before its implementation.

Meanwhile, the survey that was conducted last 2012 was updated in January 2017 to make it more reliable in defending the proposal to offer BS Psychology to the academic council.

At least 70 BS Psychology students are expected to be admitted in the university once the program is implemented in 2019. There will be two blocks having 35 students each.

Attorney Nepomuceno stated that BU-CSSP will be justifying BS Psychology on a quota-basis so it will not actually be competing with University of Santo Tomas-Legazpi when it comes to the offering of the course.

As to the faculty, he added that they are strengthening it and are ready to hire at least one psychology major degree holder.

After giving way to the establishment of the BU College of Medicine, the two-year plan of BUCSSP to open Bachelor of Science in Psychology will soon come to full implementation in 2019.

According to Dr. Roallos, she was commissioned by Dr. Noemi Ibo, the former Dean of CSSP to make the proposal for BS Psychology and was assisted by Dr. Salvacion L. Villafuerte.

BU hosts mental wellness forum May Altavano and Myca Revilla

In line with the celebration of Suicide Prevention Month, Bicol University (BU) was chosen as one of the host institutions for a campus caravan on mental health awareness focusing on the effects of social media to depressed people.

With the theme “Mental Wellness in the Digital Age Forum,” paral-

lel sessions for students, parents, guidance counsellors and teachers were conducted at BU, University of Santo TomasLegazpi (UST-L), Divine Word College of Legazpi (DWCL), and Legazpi Convention Center last September 11 and 12.

Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin Nebres, BU Office of Students Affairs and Ser-

vices acting dean and coordinator of the event, said that indeed most of the young people who commit suicide had a bad experience on social media.

“According to psychology, 3 out of 10 people who commit suicide have no one to talk to, to share their feelings with.

Moreover, Natasha Goulbourn Foundation (NGF)—a supported agency of the Department of Health (DOH)—spearheaded the activity in partnership with the Bicol regional offices of DOH, Department of Education, and Commission on Higher Education.

In her letter to BU President Arnulfo Mascariñas, Jean Margaret Goulbourn, President and Founder of NGF, said that they conduct a campus caravan in each year’s suicide prevention celebration with various forums, lectures, and workshops in Metro Manila schools and universities.

“We would like to share our cause to the provinces to increase our coverage, establish connections and referrals, and to continue its advocacy in bringing depression to light,” Goulbourn stated in the letter.

Llenaresas stated that CHED released 19 Memorandum Orders (CMOs) and they still have to wait for the others because it gives them the minimum requirements for each course with the exception of the General Education (GE) courses.

revised and approved by the board so next set of the revisions, we have already done preliminary revisions but we cannot finalize until there are CMOs, kaya hinihintay natin yung mga CMOs,” she said.

GE COURSES CHED provided GE courses that are mandated to be part of every curriculum of different programs offered in the university.

These GE courses include Readings in Philippine History, Mathematics in the Modern World, Purposive Communication, The Contemporary World, Understanding the Self, Ethics, Art Appreciation, Life and Works of Rizal, Filipino 1 Wika, Filipino 2 Panitikan, and

Science, Technology and society.

“We have to align the programs because some or many of the subjects offered before the General Education was cascaded already to the Senior High School, so we have to revise our curriculum that is compliance to CMO no.

NEDA drives AmBisyon Natin 2040 Ephraim Joseph Marollano

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region V in cooperation with the Bicol Association of Tertiary Schools Publication Advisers (BATSPA) introduced the AmBisyon Natin 2040 and the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022 to student journalist last November 14, 2017 at the RDC Hall, NEDA, Arimbay, Legazpi City.

Ambisyon Natin 2040 is a long-term vision that forsees a Philippines that is a prosperous and predominantly middle-class society where no one is poor, Filipinos living a long and healthy life, Filipinos being smart and innovative, and Filipinos living in a high-trust society.

On October 11, 2017, Malacañang has issued Ex-

ecutive Order (EO) No. 5 providing for the adoption of AmBisyon Natin 2040 for development planning.

The vision of AmBisyon Natin 2040 was divided into 4 time periods, 2017-2022, 2023-2028, 2029-2034, and 2035-2040.

The vision was crafted through the advisory committee, public consultations, technical studies, and communication and advocacy.

Based on the research conducted, 79.2% or majority of the Filipinos want a simple and comfortable life, 16.9% having an affluent life, and 3.9% experiencing the life of the rich.

The major plan targets of RDP 2017-2022 is to increase economic growth to 11.2% in 2022 from 5.7% in 2016, reduce poverty incedence among population to 26% from 36% in 2015, and to reduce under-

employment rate to less than 20% from 30.1% in October 2016.

By the end of 2022, NEDA envisions that the foundation for inclusive growth is laid down, the society is high-trust, and the economy is globally competitive.

Bicol U, Japanese studes promote local products of Sorsogon Jonnabeth Ortega and Fatima Rozen Mirabueno

For the second time, Bicol University (BU) was the host school of students from Musashino Arts University (MAU) of Tokyo, Japan bearing out its aim to become worldclass through establishing global linkages.

BU is in a collaborative effort with MAU and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sorsogon Province in its advocacy to promote the local products in the region since 2016.

This program is intended to stimulate operational, educational, technical, financial, and logistical assistance to the university and to micro, small and medium enterprises within the local community of Sorsogon City.

A total of 37 participants joined the event, comprising 22 students from BU taking up Bach-

elor of Industrial Design (BID), six BID professors, six BID graduate students from MAU who are taking up a graduate study program for industrial design, and three Japanese professors.

For the first time, photography workshop was included in the set of activities this year that was spearheaded by the Japanese professors.

According to Professor Alfonso Peñol, program adviser of BID, the main objective of this partnership is for students to help assist the countryside producers who belong to the informal sector, specifically those that are home-based and are not yet recognized as legitimate business players in the industry.

PRODUCTION Both MAU and BU students will develop a con-

cept or design for micro producers in a first phase called “Product Development Activity.” This process includes a provision of designs and assessment of the existing capabilities of the countryside producers.

Meanwhile, they have identified nine producers to be visited in different municipalities in Sorsogon, wherein they evaluated the raw materials to be used in order to come up with a design concept that will be reproduced by the micro producers.

More of their designs are expected to be under the category of housewares like lightings, furniture, bags, and baskets.

The materials used were natural or raw materials found in the province such as lito, bakbak, karagumoy buri, pilinut shells, and co-

Bagamat simula pa noong mabuo bilang isang unibersidad ang BU ay hindi pa nito naisakatuparang magkaroon ng titulo sa lupang kinatatayuan, tila mapipilayan ang bisyon nitong maging world-class dahil sa ilang porsyon ng lupaing noon pa ay ginagamit rin ng isang ahensya de gobyerno.

Nananatiling nakatirik ang establisyimento ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa dalawang loteng ngayon ay pinagsisikapang angkinin ng unibersidad para magamit sa mga pangedukasyong pasilidad.

I will only raise my hands in applause at the achievements of the national and local government in terms of inclusive growth when the poorest of the poor are no longer starving for progress but rising in sync with the nation’s development.

According to a 2015 report by the Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA, the poverty incidence in the country was estimated to be at 21.6 percent while the subsistence incidence or the amount of people who lacked the means to feed themselves was at 8.1 percent.

These statistics were measured through the poverty and food thresholds which prescribed the minimum income requirement to meet basic food needs and nutrition as well as other non-food needs like clothing, housing, and education.

Based on these statistics, in 2015, there were roughly over 20 million Filipinos living in poverty and half of that living in extreme poverty. While

While there is still room for improvement and criticism, it cannot be denied that these developments deserve to be met with its fair share of acclaim. I just hope that these projects and efforts won’t be disproportionately skewed towards communities that are already on the rise.

If projects in the Build, Build, Build program are based off the ambition to further modernize highly urbanized areas then we are just amplifying the need of the people living in rural areas to migrate to large cities in search for greener pastures.

In order to effectively decongest population-dense cities in the long run, providing far-flung and remote areas better road access to the center of livelihood in their locale will enable them to thrive and develop their economy without having to leave their hometowns.

I desperately want to raise my hands in applause at the improvements of the nation’s economy, however, right now it is hard to say ‘inclusive growth’ without wincing at the thought of Filipinos in rural areas thirsting for commodities that have already existed in urban places for decades. I can call it ‘partially’ inclusive but not wholly, not yet.

As a developing nation, it may be easier to give ourselves a pat on the back because a considerable majority of the country is able to eat three meals a day, but what we must not forget is that so long as there are people lagging behind while the economy grows, there is still work to be done.

Punitive Measures Providing stricter rules and policies for the safety of a child is akin to the way we hold the sand, it finds a way to escape when tightly pressed and flows casually when loosely handled.

There is no question that the implementation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 63 (CMO No. 63) series of 2017, which provides rigorous policies and guidelines in conducting offcampus activities, intends to give security for its students.

However, there are many curricular and non-curricular activities in the university where complying with the

loads of minimum requirements are somehow unresponsive on the part of the students. One of which are press conferences, seminars, advocacy projects, sports activities and many more.

In a situation where at least five students will go outside the university for a seminar just in the same city, submitting medical certificates, finding a faculty with first aid trainings, and even getting the franchise of the vehicle evaluated by LTFRB, are really challenging and seems unreasonable especially when the event is delivered in a short notice.

This is a call to all universities who conducts huge off-campus activities, such as tours or field trips, that they should require massive inspection, observation and examination not only of the vehicle but of the one who will drive it. The school must ensure that the money paid by the students should justify their services, not to fulfill the pocket of certain coordinators.

On a larger scale, it is also a call to strictly impose and observe road safety that lies in the duty of the government and of every individual.

In addition, policies and guidelines should be made carefully by ensuring that every aspect of the affected persons be analyzed.

For me, this is the better approach for the students to attain real safety in conducting off-campus events, without too much weight of requirements that may limit them in exploring the world for a better learning.

Sitio Inang Maharang: Pinagkait na Pag-unlad

Sa aking kamusmusa’y nadama at nalasap ko ang halumigmig ng hanging dumadampi sa aking balat, ang pagsibol ng araw na sumasagisag sa pagtanaw sa kinabukasan, at ang indayog ng kawilihan at ngiti ng bawat tao sa isang mumunting paraiso na sumasabay sa ritmo ng buhay.

Malayo man sa kabihasnan kung maituturing ang isang sitio na aking kinamulatan, dito ko unang hinubog ang aking mga pangarap, hindi lamang para sa aking sarili kundi para na rin sa komunidad na aking kinalakihan.

Subalit, kalakip nito ay isang napakalaking pangamba kung may pagkakataon pa bang iyon ay manatiling nagsisilbing tahanan para sa mga taong namumuhay rito.

Humigi’t kumulang isang oras mula sa terminal ng Legazpi City ang gugugulin sa biyahe para makapunta sa aming municipalidad, ang Manito.

Mula doon ay sasakay ulit ng tricycle papunta sa aming barangay hanggang sa dulo nito kung saan nakatahan ang aming sitio—Sitio Inang Maharang.

Dito ako unang nagsimula bilang isang gusgusin na hindi naranasang maglaro ng mamahaling mga laruan, bagkus ay habulan at taguan sa maberdeng damuhan ang sa aki’y nagbigay ng sobrang tuwa.

Hindi ko rin naranasang mamasyal sa mga nagsisilakihang mall o ano pa mang establisyimento sa isang siyudad, bagkus ay ligaya at inspirasyon ang aking nakuha sa tuwing kasama kong maglalakad sa palayan ang aking ina’t ama.

YAMAN NG SITIO Pagtatanim ng gulay at palay ang pangunahing ikinabubuhay ng mga tao sa Sitio Inang Maharang. Ang agrikultura ang isa sa pinagkukunang yaman ng lugar na ito.

At sa di kinalaunan ay natuklasan din dito ang yamang geothermal dahil sa ito raw ay napapalibutan ng mga hindi aktibong bulkan.

Dahil dito, ipinatayo ang BacMan Geothermal Power Plant na nagbibigay ng enerhiya sa NAPOCOR ng Luzon Grid, na nasa pangangalaga ngayon ng Energy Development Corporation (EDC). Napili

nila itong ipatayo sa bandang itaas ng aming barangay—ang Barangay Nagotgot sakop ang aming sitio.

Ayon kay Eduardo L. Jimenez, punong tagapangasiwa ng EDC Community Partnership Department, may mga programa raw ang kanilang korporasyon na tumutulong sa mga residente ng Barangay Nagotgot sa kanilang kabuhayan at pati na rin sa edukasyon.

Isa sa nabuong organisasyon sa ilalim ng kanilang programa ang Lowland Farmers na pinamumunuan ni ginoong Celedinio Dadat.

Naisambit niya na mayroon daw 200 miyembro ang kanilang grupo ng mga magsasaka.

Dagdag pa niya, hindi lang daw mga tagaroon ang nagsasaka sa lupain ng Sitio Inang Maharang at ilan sa kanilang mga produkto ay ang palay, gulay, kamoteng-kahoy, at iba pa.

“May mga taga-ibang sitio, igwa nganing taga-Manito na nag-ooma digdi. Ako talaga ang hilig ko mga gulayun, nageskwela kaya akong agriculturist sa TESDA. Ang Lowland Farmers haloy na siyang grupo, mga 20 years na,” wari niya.

EDUKASYON Kahit isa lamang na sitio, mayroong paaralan sa aming lugar para sa elementarya.

Napagyayaman namin ang edukasyon kahit na mayroon lamang na apat na simpleng silid at mga kagamitan.

Isa sa aking mga pangarap ang makapasok sa isang maganda at dekalidad na unibersidad sa bansa. Dito sa Bicol, nais ko sanang makapasok ng Bicol University sa pagtungtong ko ng kolehiyo at makapili ng isang magandang propesyon sa abot ng aking abilidad. Kung papalarin naman, ay nais ko ring makapasok sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas.

Napagtanto ko na tumutulong din ang EDC sa mga kabataang nais magkolehiyo sa aming lugar sa pamamagitan ng scholarships.

"Sa career project, meron kaming walong scholars sa BU, may engineering tsaka education. Itong career project very holistic yung program kasi scholarship program 'to,

it started nung last sem. Nag start lang sya pag naka-enrol kana sa university, pero yung career program kailangan mo muna makapasok sa university," ang sabi ni Rowena Daep, community partner ng EDC. At natuklasan din aniya na delikado ang lugar sa landslides.

"Dae man. Eto lang kan pang-yayari na eto. Sarong beses lang eto nangyari. Dahil sa Bacman ta ang nangyari may burabud, dati ngane may gripo tiggagamit ninda. Inda ngane kung ano ginibo ta sinulat ninda su burabud biyu pinagdasuk sa kondaktor. Ta syempre ang tubig pag naipit mahanap na lusutan tapos su gabos na burabud pina semento ninda," pagkokonta ni ginoong Dadat.

Simula noon ay nilikas na ang mga residente ng aming sitio papunta sa Barangay Nagotgot. Doon kami pinagkasya at maging ang aming paaralan ay nilipat din sa Nagotgot Elementary School. Malawak ito subalit pinagtya-tyagaan namin hanggang ngayon ang dalawang silid na kawayan ang dingding at lupa ang sahig.

Sa di kinalaunan ay nagpasya pa rin ang iilan na bumalik sa aming lugar. Ang ilan naman ay pumupunta roon kapag umaga para maghanap-

buhay at bumabalik sa barangay kapag gabi. Kagaya nga ng sabi ng aming guro na si Jaype Babapa na doon din lumaki, ang aming sitio ang sentro ng kabuhayan ng aming barangay.

Subalit ngayon, naiwang nakatengga at hindi matamnan ang ekta-ektaryang lupain sa aming sitio. Nawala na ang dating diwa nito sa di rin mapagtantong dahilan.

Natatakot akong ang paraisong aking kinalakihan ay magsilbi na lamang na isang magandang alaala na kailan man ay hindi na maibabalik.

Nais ko sanang umihip ang hangin ng pag-asa upang ang sitio na sa ami'y nagbigay inspirasyon para mangarap ay maibalik sa dati nitong sigla.

BU adopts clustered system in Sept Fest Julianne Nicolle Moral, Roma Joy Padre with reports from JJ Doctolero and Abegail Firme

Due to the lesser number of students this academic year, Bicol University (BU) implemented a cluster system in celebration of the university’s September Fest 2017.

University Student Council Chairperson and Students Regent Earl Vincent Vista stated that the clustering was also pushed through because of the passage of the free tuition bill which resulted to a limited fund for the BU Week.

As a result, the different colleges of the university were clustered into nine groups.

The College of Business, Economics and Management was clustered together with the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP). Merged in another cluster were the College of Arts and Letters, College of Nursing and College of Science (CS).

Meanwhile, colleges in East Campus were grouped as one cluster. The Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation was clus-

tered together with the College of Education (CE).

Nevertheless, the College of Medicine did not merge with the other colleges and satellite campuses formed itself as different clusters.

On the other hand, students expressed negative feedbacks during BU Week because of the changes brought by the clustering.

Likewise, Rey Bernard Dalanon from BU College of Engineering stated that this year’s intramurals was boring due to the small number of participants present in the different events.

Kent Lawrence Macadag from BU CSSP stressed that the BU foundation week was different this year as affected by clustering.

However, he explained that the new scheme should be seen as a medium of unity since different colleges were grouped into one.

yung unity ng BUeño kahit iba-iba yung course, nagkaisa pa rin. Yung sa cluster namin wala namang masyadong problema (cluster 1) though may mga di pagkakaintindihan, na settle naman kasi nga naging united,” Jaycel Losande of BUCE said.

The satellite campuses as an individual teams claimed that they did not feel the disadvantages despite hav-

ing no partner colleges.

“Yung clustering na meron tayo ngayon brought us so much challenges on the part of the [USC] kasi bago siya and alam naman natin na pagbago talaga madaming adjustments na kailangang gawin but I think it is time for us to adapt this clustering system,” Vista concluded.

In line with the launching of futsal for women in the Bicol University (BU) Olympics last academic year, futsal men’s division kicks off in this year’s 48th founding anniversary celebration.

Adding futsal for men as one of the sports events in the BU Olympics aims to showcase fresh events and to keep up with the pace of the State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association (SCUAA).

In an interview with the Arch. Jun Mirabete, Tournament Manager of Futsal, he said:

“Nagkaroon ng futsal men kase kailangan na, madaming maggaling sa BU, sa regional competition wala tayong points at sa national mayroon [futsal] yan.”

Furthermore, Mirabete said that among other events, futsal was chosen by the tournament managers and sports coordinators because it is easier to organize and less expensive compared to other sports.

Futsal is an indoor game played by five players including the goal keeper inside the court.

Boards are not used and

the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines. Unlimited substitutions are permitted as recommended by the officiating and the game is more likely to enhance foot and passing skills because players contact the ball more frequently.

According to Mirabete, futsal is often mistaken to be a football event for women. “Akala nila pag babae, ang tawag futsal at hanggang ngayon may di nakakaalam kung ano ang futsal, maganda nga yun para na popromote ang ball games,” Arch. Mira-

bete said.

The game is set to take place at the College of Engineering Gymnasium on September 20, 2017 which is the third day of the BU Olympics.

The first game play of Futsal will be a round robin which is dissimilar from the rest of the sports events. All of the teams will compete against each other since only four clusters will be playing. The competing teams are from cluster 1 composed of the College of Education and Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation;

cluster 2 composed of the College of Arts and Letters, College of Science and the College of Nursing; cluster 3 composed of the colleges in the East Campus and cluster 4 from the Daraga Campus.

The plan of exhibiting maiden games in the BU Olympics came up last August to prepare the athletes for the incoming regional meets. Football women was included in the selections but it was not pushed through because of the lack of budget on officiating.
