BEN WILKINSONRUNNING FOR VP FOR EDUCATION
Manifesto:
Hi, I'm Ben. Im a third year Education student and I'm running to be your Vice President for education here at Bangor.
Since I started here at Bangor I have worked closely with past and present sabbatical officers on making changes that benefit students within their respective departments and schools and I intend to carry their work forward as well as bringing in new policy that makes the education here at Bangor one the best in the UK.
If elected I intend to implement my 7 points for a better Bangor:
1 Further build on the work for more mental health support for students who go out on placements and need that extra support.
2 Have a fair reimbursement scheme for students who have travel as part of their course so that students aren't left out of pocket during this horrendous cost of living crisis.
3.Increase resources that are available for students on their courses and pressure the university into investing in more digital resources that can be accessed no matter where you are.
4 Work with local and national government to make our courses more accessible and more welcoming to international students and make sure that their thoughts are heard and that they get the representation that they rightly deserve
5.Work with the University and Schools within the University to help reduce financial strain being put on all students during this trying time.
6 Create more opportunities for students to meet with lecturers so that you aren't feeling left behind or in the dark when it comes to your courses.
7 Make sure that the English and Welsh cohorts are given the same amount of resources and support as each other so that everyone has the same chances, resources and opportunities to succeed

OMANCHI AGBAJIRUNNING FOR VP FOR SOCIETIES & VOLUNTEERING
Manifesto:
Hello!
My name is Omanchi Agbaji and I’m your future VP for Societies and Volunteering.
Promoting Societies
As VP I am increasing the promotion of societies and their events to the wider student population. I will be increasing the amount of job relevant volunteering available and will make sure Bangor University students belonging to every minority group have a physical and/or online safe space.
Have you ever interacted with a society at serendipity, made a mental note to go to a session, only to forget in the whirlwind that is student life? I plan to have a weekly "Spotlight on a Soc" aiming to increase the reach of niche societies and promoting big scale society events
Creating Safe Spaces
Feeling like you do not belong can have a detrimental effect on your quality of life. Having designated spaces where one can de-stress and relate to people in similar situations is more necessary than ever. I’m working with network leaders and already established safe spaces to bring communities together such as the establishment of an LGBTQ+ safe space in the Students' union and a university community where each international culture will feel represented.
Volunteering and Employability
With the current cost of living crisis, more students have part time jobs leaving little time for volunteering. Now more than ever a good network is a great way to guarantee a job post-university, and volunteering is a great way to build said network. I believe that working with the wider community and enhancing opportunities we currently have are great ways to increase the relevancy of volunteering and increase how many people are thinking about it.
I’m looking forward to being your voice in the student union and working for a better Bangor!

HOLLIE KOROBCZYCRUNNING FOR VP FOR SPORT
Manifesto:
Introduction: I’m Hollie Korobczyc. I am running to be your VP of Sport. I have been a part of sports at Bangor University for the last three years and would love the opportunity to expand my knowledge and relationships in the community here even further! I have lots of experience and new ideas I would love to be able to achieve with the help of your vote! I am excited if allowed to work closely with all the different clubs and sports we have here at Bangor University and get to know the community even better.
Some points I would like to achieve:
Enhance participation: make sports accessible to everyone, promoting sessions and events to get everyone involved no matter what their background or ability is. Educate students on the importance of sport and how it can have a positive impact on social, physical and mental health.
Promote diversity and inclusion: opening more opportunities for mixed sessions/teams Equal opportunities for all athletes no matter what their sporting interests are. Facility improvements: explore opportunities for developing new/improved facilities for sports at Bangor University Making facilities more accessible for all students E g New 3G pitch and external coaching opportunities.
Community building: organise events and tournaments that bring the AU community together while also involving society and volunteering groups.
CLARK THOMAS - RUNNING FOR VP FOR SPORT
Manifesto:
KEEP SPORT FREE IN BANGOR
Bangor is 1 of 2 Universities in the entire of the UK that offers sports for free, elsewhere, a student pays an average of £400+ on memberships etc to join sports clubs
Bring a second 4G Astroturf to Bangor
With multiple teams in the University, all sharing the same astroturf, the ability to have multiple training sessions a week like other teams we come up against is difficult, especially with local teams having their training sessions and games on it as well.
Continue bringing in external coaches
The number of external coaches working within the University has dropped in the last year, my goal is to bring this initiative back to take our competitive levels that step further Review current grant allocation set up, amongst the non-BUCS competing clubs
Non-BUCS competing teams hardly compete elsewhere throughout the year, and this is due to having to pay travel and accommodation expenses all out their individuals and clubs pocket. They represent the badge just as much as BUCS competing teams, so this needs to change
Introduce free heart rate monitors to BUCS competing teams to elevate performance in training and matches
I believe the introduction of heart rate monitors could elevate our performance on the pitch and during training to standards not seen in Bangor before. Accurately recording how hard individuals and teams are working, this could not only help within sports, but could have major health benefits as well avoiding injuries.
Keep sport messages and physiotherapy sessions free for AU students
Keeping the sport messages and physiotherapy sessions free are critical, this has allowed students to delay any injuries they may have, and has been able to increase performance since it began
Touch rugby campus sport league
As the numbers of keen rugby players increases year by year here in Bangor, much like football and netball, a recreational rugby tournament could be a brilliant feeder into our 2 established teams in the University.
AMY WYATTRUNNING FOR VP FOR SPORT
Manifesto:
I am honored to announce my candidacy for the role of Vice President of Societies and Volunteering at Bangor University. With eight years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specializing in monitoring and evaluation, I am deeply committed to leveraging data-driven insights to create positive change within our university community. My vision is to empower every student to make a meaningful impact through societies and volunteering
If elected, I will focus on the following goals:
I aim to create inclusive spaces within societies and volunteering initiatives where every student feels welcome, valued, and represented I personally been facing challenge into that.
Data is a powerful tool for driving impactful projects I will champion the use of data analysis and evaluation to inform decision-making and optimize the effectiveness of our initiatives
Transparent communication and active engagement are essential for building strong communities. I will implement regular feedback sessions, open forums, and collaborative platforms to foster dialogue and collaboration among students
Action Plan
To achieve these goals, I propose the following action plan:
Establish regular feedback sessions with society leaders and volunteers to understand their needs and concerns.
Develop training workshops and resources to enhance data analysis and project management skills among society members.
Create a centralized platform for sharing best practices, success stories, and collaboration opportunities.
Launch awareness campaigns to promote the importance of volunteering and encourage more students to get involved
Inclusivity and Communication:
I believe that every student's voice should be heard and valued, regardless of background or identity. I am committed to promoting diversity, equity, and representation within our community. Together, let's build a vibrant and inclusive community where every student can make a difference With your support, I am confident that we can achieve our goals and create positive change at Bangor University.
MORGAN SLINGERRUNNING FOR VP FOR SPORT
Manifesto:
Hi everyone, my name is Morgan Slinger and I‘m running for VP of sports I’m a current psychology 3rd year student and Club Captain of Men’s Rugby Union. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bangor, and I want to give back to the university and students that have made the 3 years so enjoyable To keep this short and sweet I have three points of focus for VP.
1 Respect and well-being are key values of mine I want to hold more student leadership conferences for committees to enhance wellbeing support and leadership skills which will benefit all club members. Whilst committees work hard to protect their club members, I would like to establish regular drop-in sessions to help club committees access support and discuss their club’s development. I believe opening discussions between different committees would provide opportunities to learn from one another’s experiences and aid in improving your clubs.
2 Community and union I am looking to implement a “spectators route” initiative, involving shuttlebuses where any student, participating or not, can bounce from one game to another and give that home advantage. Boosting spectators and motivation on field. This provides a study break on our Wednesdays and some fresh air for students No matter what sport, background or social class we are all part of an athletic union. I feel that the inter-club atmosphere is competitive year-round, but as we reach varsity, we are one huge team Let’s foster this whole university team nature, seen at varsity, all year round.
3. Personal development and participation. I am committed to growth of each individual player and each sports club Rugby has been lucky enough to obtain a performance programme. All clubs deserve the opportunity to create their own programmes or plans to develop your club If elected I will commit time with each club individually and use my experience to work on a plan that will reach your goals.
To find out more about my ideas keep an eye out on the socials and stop me for a chat around the university
