STUDENT AND ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Miller School Students Present Timely Research on Vaccines and Pregnancy at National OB-GYN Conference Two second-year medical students and a recent M.P.H. graduate from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine collaborated on studies looking at attitudes and uptake of vaccinations during pregnancy. Their research was timely and rigorous enough to be presented at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting in San Diego.

My Wellness Check Goes Live for All Sylvester Cancer Patients, Providers My Wellness Check, an electronic health record integrated symptom and practicalneeds screening and referral system developed at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth – University of Miami Health System, went live for all Sylvester outpatients and providers on June 1.

A recent alumna published her master’s thesis in the AJHE A recent alumna of the M.S. in Prevention Science and Community Health, Natasha Kane, has published her master’s thesis in the American Journal of Health Education. Natasha developed a video intervention to address sedentary behaviors and decreased physical activity levels among children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

SOPHE Abstracts The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) seeks abstracts for its 2022 Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC. Topics may include access to care and health equity for Black, Indigenous, people of color and rural populations, culturally integrative care for LGBTQIA+ communities, mental health, disability, climate change, tobacco/vaping, gun violence, and other youth health topics. The deadline to submit an abstract is Friday, July 01, 2022.

NBPHE Survey The National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) is conducting a worldwide "We are Public Health" workforce study through July.
