SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS

We live in a great country filled with incredible possibilities. By considering post-secondary studies, you’re already on your way to acquiring the tools you need for a variety of careers. One major tool will be your ability to communicate. This ability can take you even further if you are able to convey your ideas in both of Canada’s official languages.
You can give your French skills a powerful boost by continuing your post-secondary studies in French. Many anglophone students have risen to the challenge at the Université de Moncton and the results speak for themselves.
In the heart of a bilingual city, uMoncton is the ideal place to perfect your second language while receiving a quality post-secondary education. UMoncton offers a wide range of programs – comparable to what is offered at much larger institutions – in an environment where you get to know and interact closely with professors of the highest calibre.
“I chose uMoncton because I fell in love with the diverse and welcoming campus in the middle of a bilingual city. The bridge group for anglophones at uMoncton offers so many fun activities that have helped me improve my French! It was the best decision I made!”
You can apply for admission to the undergraduate program of your choice at uMoncton.
As a non-Francophone student, during the first year of your bachelor’s degree, along with your other courses, you will complete an integrated set of four French language courses (two per semester) specifically tailored to Anglophones as part of a program called the Groupe-Pont (Bridge Program).
As your Groupe-Pont courses are credited as electives, they will not extend the duration of your studies.
The opportunity to fully immerse yourself into the French culture and language by taking part in campus life alongside nativespeaking students will also contribute to your success.
As a result, you will perfect your French, becoming fully bilingual.

As a part of the Groupe-Pont, you will gain access to a wide range of resources that will function as a support system to set you up for success in pursuing your education with us:
• Four exclusive French courses
- Grammar and Writing (FLSA 1401)
- Advanced Grammar (FLSA 1402)
- Oral French (FLSA 1500)
- Advanced Writing (FLSA 1600)
• Free French tutoring
• Free revision of your written work for the entire duration of your program
• Free access to French cultural activities upon request
• Option to complete projects or exams in English during your first year
• An exclusive study room for Groupe-Pont students
• A dedicated student council representing all Groupe-Pont students.
“Initially, I was nervous to go to university entirely in my second language. But I was pleasantly surprised how many activities, events, and support systems there were. The transition was seamless and someone was always eager to help. The GP French courses really helped me worry less about my language skills and focus more on my studies. I now feel more confident, comfortable, and ready for whatever the future may

hold.”
In order to be admitted to uMoncton as part of the Groupe-Pont program, your French speaking and comprehension skills need to be evaluated. To do so, simply contact Isabelle Bujold, our French as a Second Language coordinator. During a brief conversation, she will assess your oral French skills and tell you if you are a suitable candidate (which is the case for most students graduating from French immersion programs in Anglophone schools). This also gives you a chance to get to know her, as she will be an important resource for you before your arrival as well as during your studies.
For those wishing to bypass the Groupe-Pont program, a written evaluation is required.
Isabelle Bujold is not just the person who evaluates your French skills for the GroupePont. As the coordinator of the Groupe-Pont program, she will become a valuable resource throughout your studies at uMoncton.
From helping correct your written work to coordinating tutoring and other support resources, her door is always open to our Anglophone students.
There’s always something to do here. Every day of the week there are activities on campus, many being created by the students for the students. The city is also filled to the brim with recreational, cultural and culinary experiences for you to enjoy.
