UMN MORRIS CAMPUS CULTURE

There’s more to the college experience than just academics. And while it’s a huge part of who we are, getting involved and having fun are important as well. If you play a sport, you’ll be happy to know that UMN Morris boasts 19 men’s and women’s NCAA Division III athletic programs, 18 intramural leagues, and 18 club sports. If not, join one of the approximately 110 clubs and organizations like Quidditch, Mock Trial and Pre-Law Society, or Dance Ensemble.

And if you don’t see something that piques your interest, just create your own club. Chances are

someone will join you. Whatever it is you want to do, UMN Morris offers ways to get involved and make a difference in the community.

While we’re pleased to offer so many activities, we’re also proud of our commitment to environmental stewardship. From a student-led composting initiative to the Organic Gardening Club to a strong commitment to green power generation, there are many opportunities to help make this world a better place.

UMN MORRIS GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

Studying abroad isn’t just about traveling to another country and learning about its culture. That’s certainly part of it, but at UMN Morris we view it as a way to adapt to new situations while developing interpersonal and problem-solving skills in unfamiliar scenery. Being part of the University of Minnesota System and its nationally ranked programs opens up

more than 300 opportunities to study abroad or at another American college via the National Student Exchange program. Since 30% of our students are American Indian and students of color and 10% are international, intercultural perspective is a part of every day at UMN Morris.

Morris, Minnesota, is a town small in size, but big in personality and opportunity. It’s because of this town that we’re able to provide a safe, peaceful place where you can learn and grow. Nestled in the middle of the Morris community, our campus is equally engaging: here you’ll catch performances by world-renowned musicians, comedians, and speakers, and then interact with them in class.

The community welcomes you to get off campus to experience fine arts and cultural events, or

simply to spend an afternoon at a coffee shop.

Participate in Morris’s work toward community and environmental resiliency by getting involved with the Morris Model, interacting with your neighbors through the community ESL program, or getting in touch with nature on hiking trails and in horticulture gardens. Or gain real-world skills and apply them toward making Morris a better place to live through our Center for Small Towns. This community supports us, and we, in turn, support it.

What you decide to do after graduation is up to you, but all UMN Morris graduates go on to do great things. Some have started their careers at notable companies like Target, Amazon, Medtronic, 3M, Mayo Clinic, Thrivent Financial, and General Mills, or gone on to prestigious graduate schools like Johns Hopkins, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Georgetown University. Others have joined the Peace Corps or other change-making organizations. Whatever your passion, UMN Morris will help you channel it into a fulfilling career.

Sometimes a career starts with an internship coordinated by our well connected faculty. Other times graduates leverage their UMN Morris experiences to land their dream jobs on their own.
