UK AND IRELAND SPILL ASSOCIATION A UNITED FUTURE
UK & IRELAND SPILL ASSOCIATION A UNITED FUTURE
Merger concluded between UK Spill Association Ltd and International Spill Accreditation Association
Having partnered to deliver the Accreditation of MCA Marine Oil Spill Response Organisations in 2018 the two organisations have been working closely together since, not just in the marine environment but also sharing resources to deliver accreditation services to our members.
Consequently, the opportunity to merge was agreed by members of both Associations and a merger agreement was signed by both Boards during September enabling the merger to be completed on 30 September 2020.
The merger enables the following:
One common set of accredited marine, shoreline and inland standards that can be updated to comply with legislation and best practice. One strong trade Association speaking with a united voice for the industry across UK and the Republic of Ireland that Government and Regulators can access.
One strong accreditation company whose focus is the management of the accreditation schemes, maintaining and raising standards and the production of best practice.
Ability for others, eg governments and emergency planning organisations to access member network to cover surges in demand for major incidents. Production of best practice guidance that can be disseminated with authority.
Ability to work with other trade associations as the sole voice for the spill response industry. Ability to represent the industry in UK, Republic of Ireland and overseas.

The new ISAA website, www.isaa.org.uk has been rebranded as www.isasaccreditation. org . A new website is being built which adopt some of the back end features of the accreditation schemes which are on www.spillonline.org. It will have a ‘family’ resemblance to www.ukeirespill.org. The Chair of International Spill Accreditation Scheme Ltd is Stewart Ower of Compass Environmental Consultancy Ltd.
