INTERSTATE BUS TERMINAL Semester Design - Mar 2022 Location: Miraj, India Architectural Firm: It acts as a major bus stand in Miraj in the state of Maharashtra, connecting the city to several neighboring towns, major cities like Sangli, Kolhapur, and Pune, and then to Mumbai, and important cities of Karnataka like Belgaum and Hubli. The facility is managed by MSRTC for both intra-state and inter-state traveling.

Featuring clean lines, an openplan layout, and a seamless connection to nature, the design emphasizes natural light, cross-ventilation, and energy efficiency. With a palette of exposed concrete, wood, and glass, the bungalow exudes timeless elegance, while neutral tones and earthy accents create a tranquil atmosphere. REDEVELOPMENT OF RESIDENTIAL HOUSING IN SANGLI Semester: Oct 2022 Location: Sangli.

Architectural Firm: Also known This redevelopment project aims to transform an existing housing complex in Sangli into a modern, sustainable apartment development. The design enhances living spaces with optimized layouts, natural light, and ventilation. It integrates energy-efficient systems, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping for sustainability.

Community-focused amenities, such as gardens and recreational zones, promote interaction, while safety and accessibility are prioritized. This project revitalizes urban living, providing residents with improved comfort and modern facilities while preserving the neighborhood’s cultural essence.

The Al Wakrah Stadium is designed with a parametric approach, which allows for flexibility and control in the design process. The design of the stadium is inspired by the traditional boats of the area, known as “dhow”, and the roof structure represents the sails of the boat. The parametric design allows for the precise control of the geometry of the roof, enabling the designers to adjust the shape and size of the roof based on the requirements of the project. Additionally, the parametric design approach allows for the efficient coordination and collaboration between the design team, engineers, and contractors, enabling the project to be completed on time and within budget. The parametric design approach has been used to create the complex geometry of the stadium and to optimize the performance of the building. The use of parametric design in the Al Wakrah Stadium exemplifies how architecture and technology can come together to create beautiful and functional buildings.

The Al Wakrah Stadium project was designed using Grasshopper, a parametric design software that allows for flexibility and control in the design process. The Grasshopper script for this project is made up of two clusters, each with a specific function. The first cluster utilizes the crease script, which was previously used in project 4 (Wanda Velodrome Stadium). The crease script allows for the creation of complex geometry and the formation of creases on the facade of the building. This script allows the designer to control the shape and size of the creases and make adjustments as needed. The second cluster is used for forming the curve of the stadium. This cluster is responsible for creating the overall shape of the building and determining its form. It includes various number sliders outside the cluster which can be used to control the design and achieve the desired outcome.

The use of these two clusters in the Grasshopper script provides the designer with a high degree of flexibility and control in the design process. It allows the designer to make adjustments and explore different design options while keeping the overall design process parametric.

The creation of the main fins on the façade of the Beira-Rio Stadium using Grasshopper leverages the software’s powerful parametric design capabilities. This approach allows for quick modifications and seamless adjustments by altering specific parameters.The process begins by placing planes along multiple points on a guiding curve. These planes act as control points, determining the number of fins on the façade. By adjusting the quantity of planes on the curve, the number of fins can be increased or decreased accordingly. Adding more planes results in a greater number of fins, while reducing the planes decreases the fin count.After positioning the planes, they are connected to form an axis. This axis serves as the foundation for rotating the planes to create a valley fold-like pattern across the façade. The rotation of the curves along this axis generates a visually dynamic and distinctive design.This parametric method provides significant flexibility and precision, enabling designers to easily explore various design options and make real-time adjustments. It ensures the façade retains its parametric nature, allowing for creative experimentation while maintaining design coherence.

The Beira-Rio Stadium’s iconic renovation utilized Rhino and Grasshopper to achieve precision and efficiency in its complex design and construction. These tools were instrumental in creating the stadium’s distinctive façade, featuring petal-like metallic fins that wrap around the structure. Grasshopper’s parametric design capabilities allowed designers to control the placement and rotation of these fins along a guiding curve, enabling the creation of the valley-fold pattern that defines the stadium’s aesthetic.

Using Rhino, designers modeled the intricate geometries of the roof and façade, ensuring the surfaces were smooth and structurally sound. Grasshopper enabled dynamic adjustments to the design parameters, such as the number of fins or their angle of rotation, facilitating quick iterations and design refinements. The integration of Grasshopper with simulation tools allowed for environmental performance analysis, including solar exposure and wind flow, ensuring optimal comfort for spectators.

The parametric workflow also streamlined the fabrication process, breaking down the complex façade into modular components for efficient production and assembly.

Commonly used for event spaces, sports facilities, and public infrastructure, tapered tents are lightweight, durable, and environmentally friendly, often incorporating translucent materials for natural lighting. Parametric tools like Grasshopper enable precision in designing these structures, optimizing their geometry, structural performance, and environmental integration.

Widely used in event spaces, sports arenas, public infrastructure, and recreational areas, tapered tents are celebrated for their blend of sustainability and innovation. Advanced tools like Grasshopper play a critical role in their design, enabling parametric modeling for precise control over tapering geometry, material optimization, and structural analysis, allowing architects to explore creative possibilities while ensuring performance and environmental harmony. These versatile structures showcase the perfect balance between aesthetics, efficiency, and functionality.
