1. It has a corn shape because ~nature~-inspired candy was all the rage in the 1880s.

2. At one time, it was called Chicken Feed.

3. Amazingly, candy corn was more popular than regular corn when it was first invented.

4. Originally, they were painstakingly made by hand, which led to their association with the fall.

5. The recipe is basically the same as it was in the 1880s.

6. And all these years later, even though it tears our nation asunder year after year, it’s statistically pretty darn popular.

My name is Aaron Abreu and I am the Public Affairs Officer for Toastmasters International- Alamo Heights Club. Our group is dedicated in creating leaders and excellent communicators. We are hoping to offer our great program as an "extra credit" for students if they attend a meeting or two. We would also appreciate it if we can advertise about this amazing program! I have our information listed below. They do not need to be members to be part of our group. They can attend meetings as guests and still learn about communication and leadership!

The Retreat begins on Thursday afternoon with check-in at the The International Center starting at 3:00; TCC Intro & Practice at 5:00; light dinner at 6:00. It concludes on Sunday after lunch.

Fee includes 8 meals from dinner Thursday through lunch Sunday, excluding Saturday's dinner on the famous San Antonio Riverwalk (separate checks).

Overnight accommodations are available at UIW for $25/night.
