As children, most of us begged and pleaded with our parents to tell us just one more story, especially at bedtime. That love of stories — both the telling and the listening — has been part of the human experience since our ancestors gathered around a fire to share tales during long winter nights. As IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering prepares to celebrate its centennial in 2022, we decided to use this issue of IIHR Currents to gather as many stories as we could about the lab, its people, and its history. We talked to alumni, faculty, staff, and students, and by listening to their stories, we honor and respect them as individuals and also preserve our collective history.
