          Vandal innovation is headed to the International Space Station! A team of U of I students is working with NASA to develop a bacteria-resistant coating that can be used to prevent the spread of germs among astronauts in space.

    In the College of Art and Architecture’s Design-Build Program, you’ll be involved in a construction project from conception to construction. Students are working to address the critical shortage of local affordable housing by designing and building small houses in collaboration with the Moscow Affordable Housing Trust.

        A project to launch a robotic rotorcraft lander to Saturn’s moon Titan, envisioned by a University of Idaho researcher, has been selected by NASA Dragonfly for launch. Named for its insect shape, it is set to launch in 2025 and arrive at Titan in December 2034.
           
    U of I’s annual Borah Symposium, which has been held every year since 1948, features global problem solvers who offer new ideas for overcoming obstacles to world peace. If you are a new first-year student entering U of I in 2024 and you do not have an ACT or SAT score, you’ll be automatically considered for admission if your cumulative unweighted GPA is 2.60-4.00. Those who have cumulative GPAs of 2.30-2.59 will be admitted through the Vandal Gateway Program. Students who do not meet the GPA requirements are welcome to appeal through our Admissions Committee. Please note, if you have a test score, you are encouraged to provide it for admission and class placement.
