LOCKER & TOWEL SERVICE Day use lockers are available for free! Lockers in the CRWC may be rented for $25.00 per semester. To purchase a locker, please visit Member Services at the CRWC Welcome Desk. A free workout towel is available to members when you present your Cougar Card. With a fixed price of $15.00, members are able to rent clean full-size towels throughout the semester at the Welcome Desk. All equipment may be checked out at Equipment Issue.

LIFEGUARD The American Red Cross Lifeguarding program provides individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around water. Upon successful completion of the course, a Lifeguarding and CPR/AED certification will be awarded. This is valid for two years.

PERSONAL TRAINER Our ACE Personal Trainer Certification prepares trainers with the knowledge and skills to deliver the type of individualized programs people need to adopt long-term, healthy behaviors. Becoming an ACE Certified Personal Trainer will give you a career advantage at thousands of facilities nationwide and the expertise you need to stand out among your peers with a certification accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR Training and Certification as a Group Fitness Instructor will give you the knowledge and skill to design and teach fitness classes to a diverse group of participants. We offer a variety of licensing and certification options each year that cover a variety of group fitness formats. Experience as a Group Fitness Instructor will set you apart as a leader who motivates more than just the front row. STRENGTHENING THE PRIDE

CERTIFICATIONS AMERICAN RED CROSS American Red Cross certification courses are offered to members and nonmembers throughout the year. Courses include Lifeguard Training as well as Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid. All certifications are valid for two years from course completion date.

AMERICAN COUNCIL ON EXERCISE (ACE) Balancing foundation knowledge and practical skill, this course will prepare you to audition to teach group fitness with campus recreation and take your certification exam.

SCUBA OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION SCUBA Open Water Diver (SSI) certification courses are offered once per semester in conjunction with a local dive shop. During the 4-week course participants will learn topics including moving in the water with ease, breathing normally under water, and controlling buoyancy through classroom sessions, pool sessions, and an open water dive. CERTIFICATIONS Top Rope Belay Class Dates offered:

Time: 5:30 – 8:30p Cost: $5.00 – CRWC Member Participants will learn how to fit a harness, tie knots, load a belay device, manage the slack in a climbing system and properly communicate. No experience is necessary. Begin your registration at Member Services in the CRWC, then take your receipt to the Outdoor Adventure office to complete the rest of your paperwork. On the evening of your class, check out a harness from the Welcome Desk, then meet in the Outdoor Adventure office to learn how to belay!

SWIM LESSONS The Aquatics program offers both group and private swim instruction taught by certified Water Safety Instructors. During the academic year, adult group lessons are offered, while in the summer months, youth group lessons are offered. Both group lessons are available to members and non-members. Group sessions consist of eight lessons that focus on skills specific to the class level.

Campus Recreation offers recreational day camp for children ages 5 to 12 years old to the UH and Houston communities. The UH Cougar Cub Camp sessions are one week in length with campers participating in different programs throughout each day. All activities have a noncompetitive nature and camp staff work with campers to improve basic skills used in most sports. Your child will enjoy indoor and outdoor sports activities, swimming, crafts, wall climbing, and more!
