The following checklist will help guide you through the enrollment process before you arrive for the upcoming Fall 2014 semester.
CREATE AN ONLINE MYUH ACCOUNT myuh.hawaii.edu Create an online account through MyUH and establish your UH email at the website above. Email is the primary method UHM uses to communicate with students. Once on the website, click "Get a UH username" and follow the instructions. You will need to enter your first and last name, ID#, and date of birth as they appear on your acceptance letter. If you have technical problems in obtaining an online account, please call the ITS help desk, Monday through Thursday from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. during Spring and Fall Semester. During Summer the hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Information regarding financial aid, housing, registration, and much more will be sent to your UH email, so check this account on a regular basis.

SUBMIT INTENT TO ENROLL & TUITION DEPOSIT catalog.hawaii.edu/tuitionfees/tuition Submitting your Intent to Enroll Form and your $200 tuition deposit confirms that you will attend the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) in the Fall 2014 semester. The tuition deposit is non-refundable/non-transferable and is applied toward your tuition for the fall semester. Submit your form and deposit to the UHM Cashier’s Office by the date indicated on your acceptance letter. Deposits are payable by cash, credit card, or check. APPLY FOR STUDENT HOUSING manoa.hawaii.edu/housing
Students who have been accepted for admission may submit an online housing application through the Student Housing Services website. All housing applicants must submit a $25 non-refundable application fee with their housing applications. Applications received without this fee will not be processed. Rooms will be assigned to students according to the priorities established by the Board of Regents. To apply, a UH ID Number (found on the acceptance letter) is required. Students who are assigned will receive an electronic notification to their hawaii.edu email account when a room contract is offered. To accept the housing offer, a housing deposit must be received in the student housing office by the date specified. Room payments should not be sent until a contract has been offered. Details concerning payment will be provided in the electronic notification to your hawaii.edu email. Students in the residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan each semester. There are a number of different meal plans available and selecting a meal plan is part of the housing application. COMPLETE PLACEMENT EXAMS manoa.hawaii.edu/records/register/place_exams Some departments require that you pass a placement exam before you may enroll in a particular course. Others have policies that determine which course you will be placed into. Please refer to the department for more information. Discuss which exams you may need to take with your academic advisor (see next page) and register to take the exam prior to registration for the applicable course. Refer to the registration guide for test dates and registration procedures.
Chemistry
Students who wish to enroll in CHEM 161 for the first time must take the Pre-chemistry Assessment and obtain a passing score. During open periods, you can take the exam from a computer at home or on the UH campus any time during this one-week period. Dates of open periods will be posted on the chemistry department website. You may not take the exam more than twice and you may not take the exam twice, in a 24-hour period. You must use your correct UH ID# number. This number will be used to process your registration override. The link to the start page for the exam can be found on the website. From the start page you will be redirected to the UH login page and after that you will be redirected to the exam start page. English
Native speakers of English are placed into ENG 100 or ENG 190 based on class standing and transfer status. Both introductory composition classes fulfill UHM’s FoundationsWritten Communication (FW) requirement and offer a variety of sections, some of which offer tutoring or mentoring assistance. All music majors must report for (mandatory) advising every semester. Students planning to register for restricted music courses, variable credit music courses, or applied music courses, which require departmental approval, must obtain approval (and Course Reference Numbers for courses not shown on the Check Class Availability course listings) in-person during these dates from the appropriate Music Department personnel (advisor or chairperson). English Language Institute (ELI) Placement Exam Non-native speakers of English may be required to take the UH Mānoa English Language Institute (ELI) placement exam. The test is designed to measure your ability of academic English. The results will determine which ELI classes, if any, will be most helpful for you. If your English is adequate for full-time study at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, you will be exempted from all ELI classes. For more information, visit the ELI website. 5

Physics
have two options: 1) participate in an ACE learning community and be enrolled in a “set of courses” with the same cohort of students in each course, or 2) take advantage of UHM’s new online pre-registration where one is guided through the registration process and receives a combination of preselected and self-selected courses from a menu. All course choices in the portal will be based on the student’s chosen major and count towards the student’s University degree requirements.
All students wishing to enroll in PHYS 151 who have not earned a grade of “C” or better in MATH 140 (pre-calculus with trigonometry), or MATH 215 or higher, may instead use a qualifying score on the Mathematics Department’s Placement Exam, also called the Math Assessment Exam. Pre-Health & Pre-Law Advising Center
The Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising Center (PAC), is a walk-in resource center for students interested in law, medicine (allopathic, chiropractic, naturopathic, osteopathic), or the health sciences (dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant, podiatrics, occupational therapy, physical therapy, veterinary medicine). PAC is staffed by peer mentors trained to help you clarify your career goals, choose a major, plan appropriate coursework, research professional programs, find opportunities to gain experience, and apply to schools. SUBMIT HEALTH CLEARANCE FORM hawaii.edu/shs
You are required to submit a completed health clearance form to University Health Services before you are allowed to register for classes. The form must be complete and verify that you have taken a TB test/x-ray (at least one year from enrollment) and have two doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR). The form can be downloaded from hawaii. edu/myuh/healthform. You may submit the form by mail or fax (mail: 1710 East West Road, Honolulu, HI 96822, fax: (808) 956-0853) The Medical Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The clinic provides walk-in service for illness, injury, immunizations, and other primary care. Pharmacy and lab services are also available. Non-HMO insurance plans are accepted and discounted fee-for-service is offered to students without insurance.
Insurance
All students should have a plan that covers medical services in Hawai‘i. The University endorses a plan with enrollment periods at the beginning of each semester. CHECK OUT NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION hawaii.edu/nso We strongly encourage you to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). The overall purpose of NSO at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is to assist increasingly diverse students and their families in making a smooth transition to the University campus, setting a strong foundation for student success, satisfaction and active learning. Students who attend NSO are paired with a current student who can provide insightful and helpful advice about the UHM experience. They also have opportunities to interact and dialogue with current staff and faculty who can answer questions on registration, services and programs available to students. NSO isn't just for incoming students. A parent program, designed to provide family members of incoming students with information about the university and its resources, is offered in conjunction with all of the student orientations. Those who register for this program will learn ways to support their student while they are enrolled here. Participants will also have multiple opportunities to speak directly to campus resource representatives and have a better understanding of the overall student experience at UHM.

Parking
The Lower Campus and Dole Street Parking Structures are available for student permit or daily parking. Parking permits may be reserved on completion of each semester's course registration. Demand does exceed supply of spaces, however, and availability of parking permits (like classes) is based on class standing. If you can share a ride, Carpool permits are usually in ample supply. Commuter Services encourages using transportation modes other than driving alone, but if you must drive and didn't receive a permit, a limited number of spaces are available on a daily-fee basis in the campus parking structures. The Bus
Regular day students at UHM who have paid their student fees qualify for unlimited free bus fare during the Fall and Spring semesters through the U-Pass program. Brochures with route timetables are available at the Queen Lili‘uokalani Center for Student Services, the Ticket, Information & ID Office in Campus Center, and online at thebus.org. 9
Bicycle
Bicycling is a convenient, healthy, and "green" alternative to driving. Bike parking on campus is free and, with more than 50 bike rack locations, allows much closer access to your destination than parking lots.

Residents should plan on arriving the day they are scheduled to check into their residence hall or apartment. Residents arriving early should seek accommodations at local hotels.
Hotels
The Pacific Business Connection Program offers special room rates for UHM incoming students at participating properties on O‘ahu, including the Outrigger and ‘Ohana hotels, the Ala Moana hotel, the Courtyard by Marriott Waikīkī Beach, and others. Rates start from $100 + taxes per night and up. Make reservations directly by calling Pacific Business Connections and identify yourself as a UHM Campus Visits participant at the time of booking. Make your reservations early for best availability; room availability is not guaranteed and hotels can fill quickly. A credit card is required to guarantee reservations. Hotel reservations can provide specific terms and conditions.
