The three-level, 75,000 square foot Wellness & Success Center (WSC) debuted in Spring 2023 upon the passing of a student referendum to fund the new facility for the university community health and wellness needs. The WSC includes three courts equipped for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and badminton, three exercise studios, a bouldering wall, a kitchen demonstration room, an outdoor training space, indoor running track and two strength and cardio spaces equipped with cardiovascular units such as treadmills, ellipticals and exercise bikes as well a state-of-the-art strength equipment. Lockers and showers are also available for use by members.

UHD Sports and Fitness offers a diverse array of certification and training programs, emphasizing a commitment to ongoing education Previous classes have covered topics such as American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED/First Aid and Ace Personal Training. FREE group fitness sessions are offered, emphasizing cardio, strength training, stretching, and toning Each class targets distinct muscle groups and accommodates various fitness levels, incorporating a variety of techniques ranging from core workouts to dynamic step aerobics.

On average, UHD Sports & Fitness recruits 45 student employees each semester to support the operations of the Wellness and Success Center and cater to programming requirements.

Accessing the state-of-the-art UHD Wellness and Success Center is made easy with a variety of convenient parking options While the center does not have dedicated exclusive parking, users can utilize the general UHD campus parking system.
Community Members: Purchase a Daly Parking Lot permit for $10/month for convenient access inside the Wellness Center
UHD Students, Faculty, and Staff: Use designated campus parking areas with valid UHD permits.
Visitors: The Visitor Garage offers daily parking for a flat fee.
City of Houston Metered Street Parking: Available nearby, managed by the City.

The club sports program features over 10 sports for both men and women, including basketball, soccer, and volleyball, competing with other university club sports programs in the region.

UHD eSports is the premier collegiate eSports team in the city of Houston, comprised of students from the University of Houston-Downtown. Launched in November 2018, this esports program focuses on promoting friendship, developing character, and competing at the highest level.

The University of Houston-Downtown proudly boasts the Gator as its official mascot. This iconic figure actively fosters team spirit by enthusiastically supporting club sports, engaging in local community events, and enhancing the atmosphere at various university functions to inspire Gator Pride.
Under the direction of UHD Sports & Fitness, the mascot program offers students who exemplify unwavering Gator pride the opportunity to partake in the time-honored tradition of rallying the crowd to cheer and exhibit school spirit.
Tryouts are held at during the first few weeks of the beginning of the Fall Semester at the Wellness and Success Center.
