Times as an artist “who takes a backseat to no one,” two-time Grammy Award-

winning jazz drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. has established himself as a versatile and passionate leader in his generation of jazz artists.

Earning his stripes as a member of bassist Christian McBride’s trio, Owens has also toured and recorded with artists including Wynton Marsalis, Kurt Elling, Diane Schuur, and Renée Fleming.

egend. It’s a word that probably gets tossed around more often than it should. But for Joey DeFrancesco, the modern master of jazz organ, “legend” is a perfect fit.

DeFrancesco emerged in the ’80s and quickly ascended as one of the youngest players ever recruited to play in a Miles Davis ensemble.

Throughout his career, he has recorded and toured with artists including Ray Charles, Van Morrison, Diana Krall, George Benson, and Jimmy Cobb.
