omen in Business is an association based in Uitenhage that aims to be a united, non-racial business organisation that assists local women in business and to encourage female business entrepreneurs in the community of all ages and different backgrounds.

through all stages of business development and given the tools to succeed further in business, even abroad.” According to De Jong, the need for the women in business association was created for more than one reason. “When you work for yourself you do not have a boss to turn to. Your job description changes as the needs of the business change. There is no one to train you and no matter how smart you are or how many skills you have, you always need to learn something new. “Women in Business has been there and done that, and has the testimonies of successful ladies that can vouch for that. We can save you time and effort to assist your business get off to a good start.” Recent research indicated women-owned businesses are one of the fastest growing types of small businesses. “This is a rare bright spot in today’s slug-
gish economy. Women in business create jobs and values for their communities and thanks should be given for the great fortune of living in a country that cherishes freedom and celebrates progress.” Many women may never have been afforded the opportunity to learn how to make informed career choices, manage their finances and be inspired by successful women. Information session Through initiatives like Women in Business, an information session will be held to assist in developing local businesswomen. It will be held tonight at Georgiou’s, 7 Thorn Street, Uitenhage at 19:00. Attendance is free. However, you are invited to enjoy a meal at your own cost. CLIVIA CLUB SHOW THIS WEEKEND The annual Clivia show will be held at the Sherwood Garden Centre on September 2122. There will be talks on growing Clivia on Saturday at 11:00 and 14:00, then also on Sunday at 11:00. Experts will be availa ble to give advice and local growers will have seeds and plants for sale.
