INTRODUCING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS
In November 2022, UC San Diego welcomed Blia Yang to the role of Executive Director of Admissions. Blia works closely with Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management (AVC-EM) Jim Rawlins to lead the Admissions team in recruiting, admitting, and enrolling an accomplished and diverse class of undergraduate students to the campus each year.
As a member of the AVC-EM’s senior leadership team, Blia also serves as a strategic leader in helping to establish short- and long-range plans to achieve the university’s enrollment goals. Blia joined UC San Diego with more than 22 years of experience in both undergraduate admissions and college preparation programs, including roles with our fellow UC campuses in Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara.
EIGHTH COLLEGE
UC San Diego’s newest undergraduate college will be welcoming their inaugural class of first-year students this fall for the 2023-24 academic year. The college will welcome their first class of transfer students in fall 2025.
Eighth College’s theme of “Engagement and Community” is at the heart of some of the most difficult worldwide challenges. Exploring issues like structural racism, widening disparities in economic wealth, health and wellbeing, climate disruption, and more is an influence on the college’s curriculum. CAMPUS TRANSFORMATION
Our campus continues to grow and expand access for the Triton community. Several construction projects currently underway, including the Ridge Walk North Living and Learning Neighborhood, will add more than 3,300 new beds for on-campus housing. The addition of these new residence halls brings the university housing capacity to 22,260 beds, making UC San Diego the #3 university in the nation for housing inventory.
