DEAR FRIENDS

What an EXTRAordinary year we’ve had at UCP of Central Florida! We were ecstatic to finally have all of our campuses back in person 100% for this school year. From our second first day of school at our beautiful new Healthy West Orange Campus to an extravagant return of our annual gala to all of the everyday miracles and accomplishments of our staff and students, we really made the most of 20212022.

By definition, EXTRAordinary means “very remarkable” and “greater than usual” and is exactly how we would describe our team, families and the services we provide at UCP. With a $40+ million budget and a 15% increase in enrollment, we are unlocking our own potential in providing an environment where our children can grow, learn and play together with access to all of the resources they need.

We faced more challenges this year with the lingering effects of COVID-19 and staff shortages, but we persevered and are forever grateful for our families and team members who have navigated this new path of life with us.

Through it all we kept our focus and have a vision for a brighter future for UCP and are purchasing land so we can better serve our current and future families in Osceola County. The need there is great and we are excited to still have so many dedicated donors, volunteers and supporters on board to make it just as EXTRAordinary.

We’re stronger together and we are hopeful that our campuses will continue to thrive as we better equip our staff to help provide the education, support and therapy services our families deserve. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us as we strive to UNLOCK CHILDREN’S POTENTIAL.

Sincerely,

OUR MISSION

To empower children with and without disabilities to achieve their potential by providing individualized support, education, and therapy services in an inclusive environment.

OUR values

ETHICS & INTEGRITY

We are responsible for our clients, their families, our team members, our Board of Directors, and our community at large. We do not take professional or ethical shortcuts. Our interactions with all of our stakeholders must reflect the highest standards we profess.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Our ability to meet our responsibilities to the community depends on being fiscally responsible and efficient. We strive to optimize our operations by “working smarter not harder”

TEAMWORK

We recognize that the ability to excel and meet our clients and community’s needs depends on our ability to foster a diverse team. We strive to create an environment of mutual respect, encouragement, and teamwork; an environment that rewards commitments and performance and is responsive to the needs of our team members.

COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS

We strive to create a community of learners and we support team members in their growth and development. We provide opportunities to apply new knowledge and strive to utilize best practices at all times

PROGRAMS

EDUCATION

Our Education Program utilizes project-based learning, technology and art integration, and customized instruction. Our instruction is intended to be customized for each student.

UCP of Central Florida has re-imagined the elementary school experience by giving children with and without disabilities the opportunity to learn, grow, and play together at our inclusive campuses. With this re-imagined program we still maintain accountability and are SACS/ COGNIA accredited.

We strive in cultivating a culture that celebrates diversity and empowers children to find their strengths and talents.

SUPPORT THERAPY

Our team of therapists provides individualized Physical, Occupational, and Speech-Language Therapy to clients and students from birth to age 21.

Our therapy services are crucial to achieving a child’s optimal functionality according to their abilities.

We provide individualized support services for families navigating some of life’s biggest challenges. We believe that social and emotional health is vital in a child’s development.

Our team of social workers and clinical counselors work with families as they raise their children and create a strong foundation for a brighter future.

BETA TEEN PARENT

CONNECTION PROGRAM TRANSITIONAL LEARNING ACADEMY

UCP’s BETA Teen Parent & Connection Program is a unique program in our community supported by Orange County Public Schools. Adolescent mothers can be faced with the dilemma of raising a family at the expense of their education. The demands of motherhood, and social stigma among peers, make teen moms vulnerable to dropping out of school. Our program provides these young moms a community where they can finish their school education while their babies receive free childcare and developmental screenings all on the same campus.

Mothers also receive counseling services, parenting labs, and, college and career coaching. These services help young mothers transition into motherhood while creating a path to success for themselves and their children.

Our TLA Campus gives young adults with disabilities, delays, and IEP’s a traditional Middle, High School, and Post Graduate experience in an environment that is accessible, and tailored to their abilities.

TLA students have access to a standard Middle/High School Curriculum with customized instruction to fit their abilities and learning styles. We also offer job training, internship opportunities, and life skills for students transitioning into adulthood.

Inclusion

The premise that teaching students of all abilities in the same classroom creates meaningful, academic, social, and emotional growth. Some of the benefits of inclusion are listed below!

Leadership opportunities for students of all abilities based on individual strengths

Real-world model for learning based on collaboration through exchange of knowledge and talents

Cultivates essential interpersonal skills that students can carry into college and career

Celebrates diversity and destigmatizes disabilities
