Trisha graduated from UConn’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1999 and was later awarded an honorary degree in 2023. She has dedicated over two decades to revolutionizing the medical industry as the founder and CEO of Bailey’s Pharmacy & Medical Equipment & Supplies. Her flagship enterprise, along with 15 other successful companies she oversees, employs more than 500 individuals and generates revenue in the hundreds of millions annually.
Trisha’s pioneering spirit and extraordinary impact have led to numerous accolades, including being ranked the #1 Minority Provider in the Nation in 2023, being named JP Morgan Chase Woman of the Year, and receiving Supplier of the Year honors. She was also a finalist for the HME Woman of the Year award and has been recognized as Jamaica’s wealthiest woman.
Her deep ties to UConn are reflected in her historic contributions to the university. She made the largest single donation in UConn athletics history and became the first woman to have a building named in her honor on campus. Beyond athletics, Trisha’s philanthropy extends to enabling hundreds of students to attend college through substantial donations to the United Foundation Central Florida.
With a remarkable portfolio of projects such as Bailey’s By The Sea 1, 2, 3, Bailey’s Cove, and Bailey’s Ideal Choice Homes, she has established
herself as a visionary in real estate development and housing. Her role as a minority owner in NBA teams highlights her contributions to professional sports and business leadership, breaking barriers and setting new standards. Deeply committed to community impact, she dedicates herself to supporting underserved communities in Jamaica and the US through impactful initiatives and essential resources. Her philanthropy is equally noteworthy, marked by serving over 4.5 million meals through her food drive program, collaborating with the University of Technology (UTech) to advance their nursing program, and spearheading an annual toy drive across 16 locations, bringing joy to countless children each year.
A celebrated author of the book UNBROKEN, Trisha’s inspiring journey and values resonate widely. Her personal and professional ethos center around compassion, excellence, and empowerment, values she extends to her family and the communities she serves.
Trisha’s honors include honorary doctorates from the University of Connecticut, University of Bridgeport, and the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC). She has also been recognized with the National Cares Mentoring Program’s North Star Award.
In addition to her professional and philanthropic accomplishments, she is a proud mother of five and the owner of the largest equestrian farm in Florida. Her legacy as a changemaker and advocate continues to inspire.
Laurie
A. Havanec
’82, ’94 JD
Executive Vice President & Chief People Officer, Retired CVS Health
Laurie Havanec received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the UConn School of Business in 1982. Six weeks after the birth of her second child, she returned to UConn to fulfill her longtime desire to study law at UConn Law. She received her JD with honors in 1994 and, upon graduation, joined United Technologies Corporation (UTC) as an attorney in their legal department.
In August 2024, Laurie retired from CVS Health where she was the Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. In this role, she had responsibility for one of the nation’s top workforces of 300,000 purpose-driven and talented employees. Her responsibilities included talent development, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, and DEI. During her time with CVS, Laurie and her team also led work in the areas of sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
Prior to joining CVS, Laurie served as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer of Otis Worldwide Corporation, the world’s leading elevator and escalator company. At Otis, Laurie and her team focused on people and culture during a time of meaningful change and transformation as the company successfully transitioned from a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation to an independent, publicly traded, company during the pandemic.
Before joining Otis, Laurie served as Corporate Vice President of Talent and Human Resources at UTC, where, together with her team, they transformed and modernized the company’s talent agenda and priorities. She championed technology and new ways of thinking to create industry-leading practices in engagement, recruitment, and performance management. Previously Laurie held senior HR roles at Sikorsky, UTC Fire and Security, and Aetna.
Laurie is keenly aware of the value of her sponsors who invested in and supported her during her career journey and is committed to paying that forward by coaching,
supporting, and investing in early career talent. She actively engages with talent both as a thought partner helping them to identify and strengthen their career paths, and by helping entrepreneurs to think through their emerging business strategies.
As a two-time cancer survivor, Laurie is relentless in her focus on early detection and prevention. In 2015, she learned during a routine mammogram, which she almost cancelled, that she had early-stage breast cancer. Immediately, she became determined to communicate the value and importance of routine mammograms; telling her story broadly and extensively to help educate women about the importance of these exams.
In 2019, Laurie endowed a need-based scholarship through UConn Women and Philanthropy to help other women by smoothing their path to law school. Based upon her own firsthand experience of taking a full ten years to repay her law school loans, she realized that a scholarship can make all the difference to a woman just beginning her career.
In 2022, Laurie was appointed to the Board of Directors of American Water, the nation’s largest publicly held water company. She is an inductee of the YWCA Academy of Women Achievers and served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame and the Connecticut Governor’s Committee on Workforce and Education.
Laurie is a passionate fan of UConn basketball and has been able to attend three Final Four appearances of the mens’ team, where in each case they won a national championship!
While Laurie spent most of her life in Connecticut, she recently moved to Seattle to be closer to her family. Laurie and her husband Mike are thoroughly enjoying retirement and the opportunity to travel extensively and spend more time with their children and grandchildren.

Gregory P. Lewis ’91
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Retired Honeywell International, Inc.
Greg Lewis is a seasoned leader of large scale global industrial companies and has been a catalyst and thought leader for Digital Transformation. Greg has worked at Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON), a Fortune 100 company and the largest U.S. multi-industrial company by market capitalization, since 2006. Most recently Greg was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Honeywell, a role he took on in 2018. Greg launched the company’s Enterprise Information Management (EIM) strategy in 2016. Over the next nine years as Vice President EIM and then as CFO, he has played a pivotal role in Honeywell’s “great integration”, as the company embarked on a substantial transformation, simplifying its operations, and building a world class digital backbone to drive growth and greater operational excellence. Greg led Honeywell in its digital transformation journey, establishing a robust data operating model and building a culture with data at the forefront for strategic and tactical decision making. During his tenure as Honeywell CFO, Greg provided critical leadership through their corporate headquarters move from New Jersey to North Carolina in 2019, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the dynamic economic and geo-political environment of the last 7 years. In February 2025, Greg stepped down as CFO and became a special advisor to the CEO of Honeywell, as they separate into three independent publicly traded companies.
Greg graduated from the UConn School of Business in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. After working construction to put himself through UConn, he leveraged his UConn Cooperative Education assignment with IBM and started his career at Kraft Foods, later earning his Masters in Business Administration from Fordham University in 1995. Greg and his wife Barbara Lewis (Reynolds), a 1989 graduate from the UConn School of Business, met in Belden Hall, were married in 1994, and started their journey together, building their family and careers, and living in 6 states over 30+ years.
Over the course of Greg’s career, he has worked in four different companies, Kraft Foods, The Stanley Works, Tyco International and Honeywell, and has traveled to 53 countries during that time conducting business globally. He has followed his passion for the intricacies of business, working in a variety of end markets and strategic contexts around the world. He always had a strong focus on learning, leadership, and talent development, drawing many cultural and business lessons from global colleagues, mentors, and advisors along the
way, and tried to pass those learnings on to others through coaching, mentorship and academic involvement. That has included his association with the UConn School of Business over the last three years, engaging with faculty and students, including mentoring teams in university sponsored programs.
Greg has also been a champion of Diversity and Inclusion. He was the inaugural executive sponsor of the All-Abilities Employee Network at Honeywell, comprising over 2,500 associates. This effort resulted in an established company strategy to make Honeywell an accessible place to work and to innovate with accessibility in mind for its customers. Honeywell has published its own accessibility statement, outlining how this principle is embedded in everything they do to attract, develop, and retain talent across the enterprise to drive growth.
Community has always played a key role in Greg’s life. Since moving to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2019 he has been the Chair of the Charlotte Small Business Innovation Fund, a community program to endow small, minority-owned businesses with investment to fund local opportunities, and he is a Board Member for Roof Above, a Charlottebased organization whose mission is to fight homelessness. Finding ways to use his experience and network to make a difference in the lives of others has been one of the most rewarding aspects of his success in business and industry.
Greg is also an Independent Director on the board of Medtronic (NYSE: MDT), one of the largest MedTech companies in the U.S., whose mission is to engineer the extraordinary to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. He is also a Board Member of Quantinuum, the world’s largest integrated quantum company.
The support of his family has been instrumental in making Greg’s amazing journey possible. He and Barbara, who were both raised in Connecticut, are avid Husky fans from their current home in North Carolina and were fortunate enough to see the men’s basketball team cut down the nets in both 2023 and 2024! They established a scholarship with the business school for Connecticut residents which provides opportunities based on academic achievement and need. They and their two daughters, Samantha (24) and Ava (21), enjoy spending time in East Falmouth, Massachusetts during the summer to connect with family and friends in the Northeast.

NICHOLAS SAVIGNANO ’25 MS
Nicholas Savignano will graduate from the UConn School of Business in May 2025 with a Master of Science in Financial Technology. He says that he may not always be the smartest person in the room, but he will always be the most prepared - and at UConn, and in life, that has made all the difference.
STUDENT FELLOWS
Nicholas came to UConn with a vision beyond just working with numbers; he wanted to build with them. Drawn to the Financial Technology program for its cutting-edge curriculum and strong industry connections, he saw the UConn School of Business as the perfect place to bridge the gap between finance and technology. This mindset has led him to collaborate with top companies, launch a startup backed by the National Science Foundation, and compete in academic challenges that took him all the way to Harvard. At UConn, he attended his first industry conference—then half a dozen more—making connections that will follow him long after his time here. He stepped out of his comfort zone in public speaking, appearing on his first podcast, conducting interviews, and now, sharing his journey with others. More than anything, Nicholas believes that every skill, every challenge, and every ‘first’ is a step toward something greater. If you just show up prepared, there’s no limit to where you can go.
KANGKANG ZHANG ’25 PH.D.
Kangkang Zhang will graduate in summer 2025 from the UConn School of Business with a Ph.D. in Accounting. Her research explores the impact of regulatory scrutiny on financial disclosures and decision-making. Her dissertation, SEC Investigations of Public
Pensions, documents how governmental intervention can drive positive changes in the public sector. Her findings challenge conventional perspectives and provide valuable insights into the regulatory landscape shaping various capital market players.
In addition to her research, Kangkang is a dedicated educator. At UConn, she has taught Principles of Managerial Accounting at the undergraduate level and the SAS/Stata/Python Bootcamp for first- and second-year Ph.D. students. Her passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom—she actively mentors students and supports their academic and professional growth. In recognition of her excellence in both research and teaching, she was awarded the Deloitte Foundation Doctoral Fellowship, an honor given to only ten top accounting Ph.D. candidates across the U.S..
Kangkang began her Ph.D. journey during the pandemic, a challenging time for many, but she found strong support within the UConn community. The collaborative environment and mentorship she received helped her navigate those difficulties and grow as a researcher and educator. After graduation, she looks forward to continuing her development as she joins the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an assistant professor.
