At UConn, we understand that one test may not accurately define a student’s academic progress and potential, which is why we are allowing first-year applicants the option to submit standardized test results through the fall 2026 entry term.
If you believe your SAT or ACT scores reflect your academic ability and want them considered, UConn requires official scores to be sent directly from the testing agency. Writing and science sections are not required or used in our review.
Standardized test ranges represent the middle 50% of fall 2025 admitted students who elected to submit test scores as part of their application materials.

We assess applications holistically and make selections based on a comprehensive review of all the information you provide, so that no single piece of information — grade point average, class rank, essay, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation,* or standardized test scores** — will determine whether you are a good fit for our community. Instead, selection is based on a comprehensive review of all the information you provide on your application, both academic and personal.
We automatically consider all first-year students for merit scholarships and our Honors Program.
