Blue sky thinkers dare greatly, dream differently, and make the world more full, more informed, and more exciting.

Blue sky thinkers find new ways past old problems. Rethink everything from surfboards to circuit boards, wind farms to wellness. Travel beyond the ends of the earth — and then go back again.

And UConn is where they learn to turn thoughts into actions.

Academic Advising

Academic advisors will chart the path for your major and lead you to programs and resources across the University. And if you aren’t sure which direction is for you, the Academic Center for Exploratory Students (ACES) can help you uncover your passions by exploring your options.

Huskies are driven by big ideas. Just look at the businesses we’ve started, the inventions we’ve patented, the distances we’ve traveled, and the partnerships we’ve formed.

Enrich your education with hands-on experience, so you can learn to heal by healing, to teach by teaching, and to lead by leading. At one of the nation’s top public research universities, discovery is what you do.

I love se ing up experimental procedures, testing, failing, failing again, and failing some more just to get to that ‘aha’ moment when you figure it all out. I want to work in a research hospital when I graduate, and now I have a clearer image of the path I’ll take to get there.”

Undergraduate Research

With more than 2,000 active researchers across disciplines, you can benefit from unique opportunities to collaborate with experts in the lab and out in the field.

Working as a tour guide has strengthened my public speaking skills immensely. I used to get anxious if I had to present to a class of 20 people, but now I give presentations to hundreds. I’ve become so fearless that I jump into campus every weekend with the UConn Skydiving Team.”

Obviously, the three national championships in my four years were pre y incredible, but my best memories came from working alongside the most amazing creative content interns and professional staff. Many schools say that they have school pride, but very few can actually back it up the way UConn does.”

Once, UConn was a farm on a hill. Now, 150 years later, our main campus has its own zip code. Its own downtown. Its own police and fire departments. Its own vibe. (And yes, we still have some cows.)

With hundreds of places to live, play, study, and recharge, you have the space — literal and figurative — to make UConn your own.

Whether we’re eating a literal ton of ice cream, ruining our sneakers playing Oozeball, sledding down Horsebarn Hill, or rubbing the nose of our mascot statue for good luck, we wear our UConn pride on our sleeves (and our hats, backpacks, and laptops). It’s more than school spirit — it’s a legacy of tradition, carried from generation to generation.

Think of a place where you can ask new questions and discover new answers. A place that encourages you to learn by doing; where you can make mistakes in order to make your breakthrough.

Think big, and never stop.

Because the first step to doing anything is to think that you will.
