HOW MAJOR IS YOUR MAJOR? ACADEMIC CENTER FOR EXPLORATORY STUDENTS/THE MAJOR EXPERIENCE

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts (JORG, D4)

10:00 a.m.

Everyone can benefit from taking the time to examine their options, whether they’re completely exploratory or already declared. However, preconceived assumptions and myths about majors prevent students from being able to take full advantage of the process. This presentation will focus on the importance of elevating the student approach to major exploration by acknowledging and correcting these misconceptions and demonstrating that choosing a major isn’t quite so major.

NAVIGATING YOUR FIRST YEAR: FIRST YEAR PROGRAMS, ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT CENTER, AND LEARNING COMMUNITIES

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts (JORG, D4)

11:00 a.m.

This presentation addresses UConn’s nationally recognized approach to holistic student development through First Year Experience (FYE) courses, Peer Mentoring, the Academic Achievement Center, Supplemental Instruction, and Learning Communities. With over 90% of first-year students enrolling in FYE courses and participating in other First Year Programs experiences, these programs provide extensive and personalized offerings to help students transition from high school to college and make the most of their education at the University of Connecticut.

LIVING ON CAMPUS

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts (JORG, D4)

12:00 p.m.

UConn has one of the highest percentages of students living on campus, and there’s good reason. With a variety of housing options, each with their own amenities, from volleyball courts to makerspaces, and over 20 dining services locations on campus, hear from the departments of Residential Life and Dining Services about how students living on campus are supported and engaged.

TRANSFER ADMISSIONS

Learn all the details about the transfer application process including application requirements, deadlines, and transferring credits.

HONORS PROGRAM

Student Union Theatre (SU, E4)

1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Campus Tours

Today is your time to take it all in. Explore our buildings and facilities through various tour options.

CAMPUS TOURS

10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Tours depart from the Homer Babbidge Library entrance (HBL, E5).

Join a 60-minute walking tour led by a student tour guide. Get a peek at what Huskies enjoy most — modern facilities, a dynamic campus community, and (literally) countless paths to take. As part of the campus tour experience, guests are invited to view a room within our Northwest residential community. Residential Life staff will greet guests and answer questions regarding life on campus.

Short on time? Shippee Residence Hall (SPRH, E7) will feature a model room for families who want to view a residence hall and may not have the time commitment for a full campus tour.

STUDENT RECREATION CENTER (SRC) TOURS

11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The SRC is UConn’s award winning, state of the art facility “where the student body develops.” Home to the latest fitness equipment, six multi-function courts, a two-pool aquatic center, an indoor running track, a 5,000-squarefoot climbing center, and five group exercise studios, it is the heart of our active campus. Students can join a wide variety of programs throughout the year including over 120 hours of weekly group fitness classes, 100 annual outdoor adventures, and 37 competitive Club Sports teams.

Tours depart from the North Quad entrance every 15 minutes. Last tour departs at 2:15 p.m.

UCONN INNOVATION ZONE TOURS

Peter J. Werth Residence Tower, Room 014 (WRT, E3)

11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

At nearly 1,500 square feet, the UConn Innovation Zone provides students, faculty, and staff with the tools, equipment, and guidance to create and innovate when inspiration strikes. Community members gain access to prototyping equipment including 3D printers, vinyl cutters, table and band saws, laser cutters, hand tools, as well as our textile and electronics stations.

New this fall, the Innovation Zone has added the Emerging Technology Center (ETC) and Recording & Editing Center (REC), providing opportunities to explore the fields of robotics, VR, gaming, podcasting, digital media, and more. Stop by to tour all that the UConn Innovation Zone has to offer and connect with Huskies as they share their experience as 'makers' on campus.

Become a Husky

First-year applicants must apply online through the Common Application or apply Coalition on Scoir. The UConn Application is recommended for transfer applicants.

Applications are reviewed using a holistic approach for both first-year and transfer applicants. Consideration is given to the entire application, including grade point average, class rank, SAT or ACT score (if provided; UConn is a test-optional institution through fall 2026), required essay, extracurricular activities, and optional letters of recommendation. This allows us to gain a full understanding and measurement of an applicant's potential to be a successful UConn Husky.
