FOR THE KIDS Take the kids to “Dennis The Menace Park,” which was designed by the cartoonist, Hank Ketchum (who lived in Pebble Beach.) This city-owned park is surrounded by El Estero Lake. OLD FISHERMAN’S WHARF Old Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey was built in 1846 for the many trading vessels bringing goods from around Cape Horn. Today visitors seek out a bit of history and the finest fresh seafood meals served anywhere. While the focus may have changed, the wharf is still a working wharf. One of the many ways the old blends with the new is with whale watching and fishing trips. Visitors can enjoy a sightseeing cruise to view migrating whales or a fishing trip to bring back a limit of fish.
