Vosloo ran the 400 m hurdles and came third in a time of 60.26 seconds and in the 110 m hurdles he took silver in a time of 18 seconds. “I am absolutely passionate about athletics. Although I have inished 11 Comrades Marathons, I enjoy track and field more because of the shorter, intense distances.” For the past five he has been one of the coaches at the Amanzimtoti Athletics Club. Under his guidance the club has grown exponentially and his athletes perform excellently at school and club events on local, provincial and national level. “Being a coach keeps me fairly busy as it is, notgivingmemuchtimetotrain, butImaketime to train at least five times a week. Like most local athletes I train at Hutchinson Park, but try to get some sessions done at Chatsworth and Kingspark stadiums whenever I can,” he says. “Although I did well I’m not completely satisfied with my times and results at the championship, but I’m determined to work harder this year.

“I always tell my athletes to work hard and to ‘fight the battles you can win’. That’s exactly what I’m going to do. For next year’s championships I might add 400 m to my plate as it will help me to be more prepared for that last 100 metres in the 400 m hurdles.”
