Beautiful People As Italy's Gaia Rossi label shows, down doesn't have to be shapeless.

Down With Sex Appeal

Producing close-fitting down jackets is an art – and one that has been mastered by the Gaia Rossi label. "We stand for a very feminine look and our fit is created to be less sportswear-like than that of our competitors," says Raffaele Rossi, owner of the Gaillardo SRL company in San Mauro a Signa, Florence. He named the label after his daughter. All this convinced Udo Toepfer, who has now taken on the collection for the German-speaking market. Gaia Rossi was launched in the last autumn/winter season and immediately reached 480 dealers. For autumn/winter 2011 it is showing about 80 styles, including down jackets and coats, sweaters and furs. Important service factors include the good prices, ranging from 90 to 140 euros wholesale with a markup of about 2.7 to 2.8, support for advertising in fashion magazines, and last but not least, stock service for the entire season. Gaillardo SRL is among the biggest producers in Italy, and manufacturers for a corresponding range of customers, including Celyn b., Zara and Swinger from Versace. "Less is more" is the philosophy of the designer, Gosha Pinno, who founded the Beautiful People label in Los Angeles in 1998. His concept is nonchalant oversized casual styles made of ultra-soft jersey that are best suited to fashionable layering, in trendy matt colours and with discrete leather appliqués. In the past year a cashmere line called Liam has now been added with basic tanks and sexy sweaters. With their casual elegant shapes and lightness, the 15 to 20 styles in three subdued colours (charcoal, black and ash) harmonise with the slogan of the fashionable main collection. In the USA leading stores such as Ron Herman, Madison, Theodore and Curve are Beautiful People Liam customers. The Düsseldorf agency, CP Fashion, will be starting distribution in the German-speaking market this season, with two collections annually plus flash programmes and wholesale prices from 89 euros with a markup of 2.8. The New Lightness of Being

The Beautiful People and Liam collections hope to conquer the European market with their elegant yet casual style.

Tan’s

Kimono Art

The small New York label of Tan is now taking the European fashion market by storm with silk kimonos in an easy-going style. Little jackets in the kimono cut, embroidered with pearls, are the trademark of this label from America. The colourful embroidery, appliqué and tassels are eye catching and make each unconventional silk item of clothing unique. Size matters: The stylish kimonos look best worn oversized. The ladies' jacket sizes range from regular to large and from short to long. The Tan collection can be ordered wholesale from 125.50 euros with a markup of 2.7. The maximum retail price is approximately 398 euros. The delivery times are two months and selected single items can be delivered immediately. The models are already available at Abseits in Stuttgart, Jades in Düsseldorf, Stierblut, Maendler and Ludwig Beck in Munich and Ciolina in Berne.
