Spring Newsletter 2023

Greetings! West End folks! Welcome to the first issue of our seasonal newsletter. We hope these smaller seasonal newsletters will help to keep you up to date on events and activities that are happening here at the West End Library.

We are also busy getting ready for our Summer programs. As we get closer to the starting date we will have more information available for you. We have some really good activities planned for children, teens, and adults.

Special Events at the Library

Dog Bone Hunt: Saturday, April 1 from 11 AM to 2 PM. Bring your dog to the library for a bone hunt! Dogs enter the library’s gated yard one at a time to search for dog bones. Please register for this event.

Fab Lab: Saturday, April 15 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Children ages preschool through tween are invited to attend a STEM event at the library. Age appropriate activities will be set out to use. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Penn’s Creek: The Public Highway: Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 PM. An event for local history buffs! Edward Slavishak, Professor of History at Susquehanna University, will give a talk on attempts to develop the Penn’s Creek area during the early 1800”s.

Book Signing: Saturday, April 29 from 1 to 3 PM. Graphic artist Chris Ring will be selling and signing copies of his newest children’s book Seamus the Famous: the Eternity Run. He will also have some of his other prints for sale. A free Batman or Mandalorian print will be given out to anyone who attends the event while supplies last.

Marianna’s Pizza and Hoagie Fund Raiser: 14” hoagies and 12” pizzas cost $9 each. Orders and payment are due Wednesday, May 17 by 6 PM. Pick-up is Friday, May 26 after 2:30 PM till 6 PM.

Book and Bake Sale: Fill a bag for $20. Books, DVDs, and puzzles available. Vendors are welcome to rent a space for $10. The sale is being held at the library.

Weekly Program

Preschool Story Time: Tuesdays at 10:30 PM. Ages 18 months to 5 yrs. Join us for a weekly theme with read-aloud stories, ageappropriate activities and crafts, musical instruments and songs. Parents must stay with children during class.

Upcoming Events

April Craft of the Month: The April Craft of the Month is a Wind-Up Bunny. Choice of blue with chick, pink with egg, or white with carrot. All pieces are adhesive. Young children will need help. For ages 3-12. Available while supplies last.

Summer Program: The Summer Program theme for 2023 is “All Together Now,” about Kindness, Friendship, and Unity. Our official sign up date is Tuesday, June 6 during regular library hours. Stop by the library in late May for more information.
