The Holy Spirit,

“Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly” Joel 2:15

“Oh what a day!”

Throughout the 21 days we encourage you to meditate on one of these scriptures each day, and pray 3 times a day—morning, afternoon and evening.

We will not fast from food, but from all types of secular information and media—TV, radio, magazines, newspapers, internet, etc. In other words, it will be 21 days of abstinence from information unrelated to the Bible.

Those who need to use secular media on their job may want to make a daily fast from food of 6 hours or more.

It is crucial for you to spiritually detoxify yourself through this fast with daily meditation on each of these promises of God. “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

(1 Corinthians 2:14)

John the Baptist said to his disciples:

“I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Mark 1:8

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35

Comment: Those participating in this purpose must understand that this is a personal promise.

You need to see this as: Jesus will indeed baptise me with the Holy Spirit.

Comment: You should read this in the following way: The Holy Spirit will come upon me, and the power of the Highest will overshadow me, therefore, also, I will be called a child of God.

“Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.” Luke 4:1

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26.

Comment: We should understand the following: Receiving the Holy Spirit does not mean that, as a servant, your life will be a bed of roses. In fact, He will lead you into certain experiences in order to teach you two basic things a) Hold on to your salvation b) Be an instrument in the hands of God

Comment: The key words in this verse are: teach and remembrance. In other words, when a person receives the Spirit of God, he is enabled to live by his own faith.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4

Comment: To be what? Living witnesses of His Son. This does not refer to healing, deliverance, prosperity, etc. We are talking about the transformation of a person’s character into one that reflects the spiritual image of God.

Comment: Worry over speaking in tongues is a big block for many who are seeking to be baptised with the Holy Spirit. Instead, a person who wants the baptism of the Holy Spirit should praise, worship and glorify the Lord Jesus, and think of nothing else. When we run out of words, the Holy Spirit will do the rest..

“They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit.” Acts 6:5

“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17

Comment: Stephen was not only a man of faith, but also a man full of the Holy Spirit. The gifts (faith) are not enough, we must also have the fruit (character).

Comment: Righteousness, peace and joy are inner character qualities of those sealed with the Holy Spirit.

“Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.” Romans 8:9

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” I Corinthians 6:19

Comment: Receiving the Holy Spirit is not an option, but a necessity in the life of every Christian.

Comment: As temples of the Holy Spirit, our human bodies require special care. Not in the sense of being self-absorbed, but being zealous in our conduct, both moral and spiritual. After all, our bodies ceases to be our own personal property to become God’s dwelling place, through the Holy Spirit.

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance.” Hebrews 6:4-6

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5

Comment: If a person intentionally turns away from His presence, after receiving the seal of God, it will be impossible for him to repent all over again. In this case, condemnation is a certainty.

Notes

Comment: When a person is full of the Holy Spirit he practises righteousness, mercy, and faith.

This is the love that is poured out in the heart of those sealed with the Holy Spirit.

“For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” I John 5:7

“Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.” John 17:11

Comment: IIn the Primitive Church, all who believed were together and had all things in common, and because of this unity of faith, the Holy Spirit was free to work in His servants.

But in the absence of the Holy Spirit, there is a lack of unity and, worse of all, a lack of God.

Notes

Comment: In this prayer of the Lord Jesus, we clearly see His concern for unity of Spirit—the main reason for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Just as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are one, Christians must also be one.

Whenever this is not the case, they do not belong to the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.” Isaiah 11:2

“Do not labour for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” John 6:27

Comment: The abundance of God is poured out when the baptism with the Holy Spirit occurs.

Comment: Today we use signatures, but in ancient times kings endorsed laws with the seal of their ring. The baptism with the Holy Spirit is a Seal, the mark of God’s ring on His servants.

All the hosts of hell can see this mark on faithful servants.

“But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.”

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14

Mattew 12:28

Comment: For the Kingdom of God to come, the kingdom of darkness first needs to be expelled. The Seal of the Holy Spirit is the sign that the Kingdom of God has come upon us.

Comment: In other words, only those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. This verse leaves no room for discussion. Either we are children of God, or we are not.

“Jesus answered,‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” John 3:5

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:6

Comment: Jesus did not have to say “most assuredly”, since His Word is always the truth. And yet He did, in order to emphasise a never-beforeseen revelation: No one can enter the Kingdom of God as long as he is not born of the water (the Word) and of the Holy Spirit. In this instance, we are not talking about the baptism with the Holy Spirit, but about a personal experience between a human being and God. The Holy Spirit convinces a person of sin. Then, the sinner recognises that his soul is eternally lost, and makes a desperate cry for forgiveness. At this point, the Holy Spirit reveals to the sinner the One person that can save him: the Lord Jesus. Finally, he sincerely and unconditionally surrenders to the Lord Jesus.

Then the Holy Spirit causes him be born of God.

Comment: Those who are born of the flesh embrace an evangelical faith in God but do not obey the Word of God. Their nature remains the same.Those born of the Spirit are always in spirit.

Their human nature is transformed into a divine nature. They are able to hear and understand the the Holy Spirit. of the Holy Spirit.

Day 21 August 26 “And so it is written, ‘The first man Adam became a living being.’ The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.” I Corinthians 15:45

Comment: The first Adam, a living soul, represents those of us who are subject to the sinful nature of the flesh. The last Adam, Jesus Christ, refers to the Person that was conceived by the Holy Spirit. In other words, the Divine Being that was also a Man, and yet was not subject to the sinful nature of the flesh. Instead of being controlled by the flesh, He was controlled by the voice of the Spirit and never once disobeyed.

And so, we conclude that until the day a socalled Christian’s human nature is transformed into a spiritual one, we cannot say that he is born of God. Only those who are born of the Holy Spirit are indeed spirit, that is, born of God.

When we sanctify ourselves, we draw close to all that brings good to us, and when we separate from God, we draw close to all that is bad for us.
