PharmSoc had a fantastic year this year, full of events, achievements and much more! This year, was without a doubt, one of the most successful years of the society to date

The first semester was highlighted with the return of the highly anticipated Winter Social, a smaller scale ball, held every Christmas before exams. Along with this, the society held a number of educational events such as the Surviving the Semester Talks, the Placement Talk and the Careers Talk. Initiatives supporting students such as the Perrigo Scholarship Awards saw a huge number of submissions this year with over 30 entries of posters highlighting the importance of antimicrobial stewardship This competition gave pharmacy students the opportunity to win 500 euro in each year group. These posters were displayed around UCC and even extended beyond into CUH, MUH and more.

PharmSoc were also involved in a number of charitable events this year including Movember and Run in the Dark. The second semester saw a greater number of intersociety collaborations with PharmSoc, and the semester was kicked off with CUH C an Y ou H elp The Pharmacy Ball took place in the middle of February, and the theme was the 60s! The theme went down a treat with John Lennon sunglasses, Elvis and peace signs making an appearance. The society collaborated with UCC Sámh to hold a conference on the topic of mental health and self-care, something which resonated with students, UCC staff and the general public. The year ended with a Pharmacy Exhibition within which representatives from differe companies in community pharmacy educate students on pro ay b dispensing.

PharmSoc were extremely proud of their achievements at STARS this year, being awarded with the best financial management and coming runner up or in third place for a number of others. Chairperson Gráinne was also awarded with an individual STARS award in recognition of her contribution to the society this year. Along with this, the society was delighted and grateful to be sponsored with 6000 euro worth of sponsorship this year, which came from Perrigo Pharmaceuticals, Clarity Locums and Irish Locums.

In the next few years, we would love to see the society expand on the hard work and efforts that was achieved by the committee this year. We hope future committees can continue sponsorship relationships already established and continue to hold new and exciting events every year!
