What a year!!!

This year, it was our goal to get all dentistry, dental hygiene and dental nursing involved in the society in as many ways as possible, and to make DentSoc more welcoming and inclusive than ever before From start to finish it really was an amazing year; we started off with the annual back to school mixers, and we marked Mouth Cancer Awareness day with a series of excellent speakers. Then it was on to DentCup, with the 1st year girls laying down a marker for the years to come, and the 4th year boys finally getting past the bridesmaid stage bringing home the wins.

Next was our special night in Vegas DentBall, baby! Arguably the best ball to date, it was amazing to see everyone leave the scrubs at home for the ballgowns and suits for one night in Sin City.

2022/2023 has been a very busy year for all of our committee! With two of our biggest events of the year, Medcup and Medball, so early in the year, we had to hit the ground running. Medball was a personal highlight of mine, as it is for most medicine students as it is always such a great night out, but being involved behind the scenes and seeing all our hard work pay off in the enjoyment of all the attendees made it so much better.

Semester two was just as chaotic The largest event of semester two is our Teddy Bear Hospital It's no easy task, organising a three day event for 800 children and 800 sick teddies, but thanks to our wonderful education officer and a pile of work from the whole committee and our fantastic volunteers, it was a breeze! Not really... but it was so worth it. This year has been so rewarding for all of us, and I cannot wait to see what Medsoc get up to next year!!

We got straight back to business in 2023 with another social night for all, and an array of webinars with some of the industries top educators In 2023 we welcomed back the return of our Career's Day conference in person after a 3 year hiatus following the big C-19, and 2023 also saw the birth of the CUH SuperCup soccer match between DentSoc and MedSoc, with the dent girls taking home the inaugural trophy.

All in all it's been an amazing year, and things are only going to get better for the society with the biggest smile!!! All the best DentSoc x
