Welcome to the second edition of our zine, a collection that explores the complex yearning for home through stories of migration and the diverse experiences that shape our identities. This issue features heartfelt narratives of leaving, finding, and sometimes losing a sense of belonging, alongside powerful artworks that speak to the emotional landscapes of displacement. In addition, we ’ ve included a small section about joining UBC KABA and the various roles within it that also helped make this zine come alive. We hope these stories and expressions help to bridge the distance between here and home, offering comfort and connection for all who have ever been far from where they started.

Welcome to our second zine of the school year! As we settle into 2025, I find myself reflecting on the places we call home those we ’ ve left in the past, and the ones we make elsewhere. I’ve returned to my childhood home in the Philippines many, many times in my head. While I could never return, the mere memory of it is enough to give me solace. I hope this issue provides that same sense of comfort and connection to home. I hope it serves as a reminder that, no matter where you come from and where you’re headed, you can build a home anywhere!
I left my heart there I hid it in the corner
Of our small apartment
So that every night in my dreams I would come back home That I would not loose my way And I hope I can find back it one day
Home isn’t a place. It’s the people who make me feel like I can be myself without judgement. It’s the warmth of a hug from my mother, the smiles of my friends, and the presence of my loved ones which define home t

Everytime I smell this certain perfume, it would remind me of the hallway of my old school in the Philippines. I would get flashbacks of my highschool life. I get reminded of the time where I often look for my old crush in the hallways haha! I guess that school was my second home.
I have really fond memories of waking up to a classic Filipino breakfast. When I was younger, the smell of garlic and fish ng through the house first thing in orning used to really peeve me. up and still living at home, I feel eful to have parents who take the out of their busy day to cook me t (even if it means garlic breath for the rest of the day!)
