LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Welcome to the latest edition of our online magazine. Sadly, the wind and rain is with us as the weather cooling, though UAP Tradlocks have some autumn and winter deals coming that should cheer us up.

With regards to Lishi guides, I have had a number of requests for support on using and decoding the scania HU71 lock, so have included the guide for the HU71 in this issue to tackle this. Keeping the theme on trucks, I have also included the HU56 guide as well as it’s used on a range of Volvo trucks as well as cars.

It seems a number of users are struggling on how to put their decode into their machines on HU71 as to which readings relate to the A axis and which relate to the B axis; all is explained in full in the HU71 guide in this issue.

The NNAL hasn’t been mentioned for a while - we may have some exciting news regarding NNAL early next year with some good potential earning opportunities for all members nationwide, so watch this space.

As if the wind, rain and the upcoming winter is not enough grief, Covid is back with us and thriving across the country with Covid related deaths up 40% this week. Now isn’t the time to be complacent with regards to PPE - I still advise mask wearing and gloves when working as a minimum requirement. Check out the UAP Tradelocks range of PPE that’s still available and in stock.

I hope you have a great Halloween and take advantage of the deals and promotions that I’m sure Tradelocks and UAP will have on again this year, I must get my wife a new broom for the night.

PICKING AND DECODING THE SCANIA HU71 LOCK USING THE GENUINE LISHI PICK AND DECODER TOOL

KEY DETAILS

The key is a four-track laser style key comprising of two A axis tracks and two B axis tracks. There are ten cuts on the key in total; five cuts split on the two A axis tracks and five cuts split on the two B axis tracks.

The A axis houses the odd number positions one, three, five, seven and nine. The B axis houses the even numbered positions two, four, six, eight and ten.

Both A axis tracks house all five

A axis cuts and both B axis tracks house all five B axis cuts. The key is cut on Instacode card number 1026 and relates to key series 1 to 2000.

KEY READING

This key site reads as:

A axis = 23432

B axis = 31432

1

Key cut measurements for calliper users are:

1 cut = 7.25mm

2 cut = 6.65mm

3 cut = 5.95mm

4 cut = 5.15mm

LOCK DETAILS

The lock houses ten wafers and all ten wafers are found in all locks. A axis house the odd positioned wafers in positions one, three, five, seven and nine. B axis houses the even position wafers in positions two, four, six, eight and ten.

The lock is a four-track lock comprising of two A axes (an A axis on both sides of the key), and two B axes (a B axis on both sides of the key). The five A axis cuts will be split between the two A axes, three cuts on one sides A axis and two cuts on the opposite side A axis, same with the B axis.

PICKING THE HU71 LOCK

We must begin by centring the lift arm and fully inserting the tool into the lock. We can confirm full insertion by feeling a wafer in position one and five on each axis.

There are only two axes, A and B. However, as a four-track lock, there

are two A axes and two B axes, giving four tracks. There will be five cuts on each axis - three cuts on one axis A, two cuts on the opposite A axis, and the same for B axis.

Once the lift arm is centred and the tool is fully inserted, we must navigate the lift arm’s guide arrow in turn to the numbered vertical position lines.

Move the lift arm’s guide arrow along the numbered vertical line until contact is felt on the wafer, then gently try to move the wafer. If it moves at all, we leave it well alone and then move to the next position. We are only interested in the solid binding positions.

Each time a solid binding wafer is found, we must apply picking pressure to pick the wafer. Once picked, the wafer will have movement again. Once a picked wafer has movement again, we move on to find the next solid binding wafer. Once all solid binding wafers are picked, the lock will open.

So, with our tool fully inserted and a light tension applied to the ten sion arm in the opening direction, we can begin our pick process:

2

Position one is the first to bind and pick.

Position two is the next to bind and pick.

Position four is the next to bind and pick.

Position seven is next to bind and pick.

Position eight is the next to bind and pick.

Position nine is the next to bind and pick.

3

Position ten is the last to bind and pick, and the lock opens. What is significant is that we didn’t need to pick positions five and six, this confirms that these positions are both number four key cuts as preset by the tool and didn’t need picking. We now hold the tool in the open position to decode.

DECODING THE HU71 LOCK

We decode in the opposite direction to we picked each position, so if we picked down, we must decode up in the opposite direction. To decode the lock, we decode one axis at a time, odd numbered positions are A axis readings and even numbered positions are B axis readings.

To decode, we move the pick arm’s guide arrow to each vertical lined position, move the guide arrow along the vertical numbered line in the opposite direction to the way we picked to read the key cut. The guide arrow will stop on a horizontal line that lines up to a number at the back of tool - that is your key cut reading.

So, with our lock held open, we can navigate to each position on each axis, starting with the A axis readings and the odd positions one, three, five, seven and nine:

Position one reads as a number two key cut.

Position three reads as a number three key cut.

4

Position five as expected reads as a number four key cut.

Position seven reads as a number three key cut.

Position nine reads as a number two key cut. This completes the odd position’s key cuts which relate to axis A, so the key cuts on axis A are “23432”. We can now decode the even numbered positions on the B axis positions two, four, six, eight and ten.

Position two decodes as a three key cut.

Position four reads as a number one key cut.

Position six, as expected, decodes as a number one key cut.

5

Position eight decodes as a number three key cut.

Position ten decodes as a number two key cut.

This completes the B axis decode and gives key cuts of “31432” on the B axis. The complete decode for the full key is: A axis “23432”, B axis “31432”.

Simply enter these cuts into your cut to code machine to cut the key.

PICKING AND DECODING THE HU56 DOOR LOCK USING THE HU56 GENUINE LISHI PICK AND DECODER

KEY DETAILS

key is a laser-style two track key that houses eight cut positions using four key cut heights. The key cuts on Instacode card number 800 and cuts on key series:

the opposite track. All locks house all eight wafers in them.

SITE READING THE HU56 KEY

LOCK DETAILS

The lock houses eight wafers in a conventional one up, one down configuration with even positions on one track and odd positions on

As with this example, site reading is straightforward as all height possibilities are on the key so easily told apart. Here we have a key from bow to tip, positions one to eight of “22423331”. Note the one cut comes all the way to the key’s first

7
The
DH0001-DH4000 DH6001-DH8000 00001-04000

lip which is a good indicator for telling the difference between a one and two cut. If measuring, then the cut measurements are:

1 cut is 4.35mm

2 cut is 3.65mm

3 cut is 2.95mm

4 cut is 2.05mm

PICKING THE HU56 LOCK

As a twin lift tool, the first thing we must do is centre the two lift arms and fully insert the tool into the lock. Full insertion can be confirmed by feeling a wafer and a spring in both positions one and eight. We must now apply a medium tension to the tension handle in the opening direction.

Once fully inserted, we must navigate the lifting arm’s arrow to each numbered position in turn and gently feel each position. If the wafer has even the slightest movement, we leave it well alone. We are only interested in the solid binding wafers with no movement.

Each time you find a solid binding wafer, you must pick it until movement is felt again. Once all solid binding wafers are picked, the lock will open. So, with our tool fully inserted and medium tension applied, we can begin the picking process:

Position one is the first to bind and pick.

Position four is the next to bind and pick.

8

Position six is the next to bind and pick.

Position five is the next to bind and pick.

Position eight is the next to bind and pick.

Position two is the next to bind and pick.

Position seven is the last to bind and pick and the lock opens.

9

What is significant is we didn’t need to pick position three at all, this confirms that position three is a numberfour4 key cut already preset by the tool. We now need to hold the lock in the picked open position to decode it.

DECODING THE HU56 DOOR LOCK

Decoding the HU56 lock is straightforward, the lock needs to be held in the open position via the tension handle. We decode in the same direction as we picked the lock. We do this by navigating the lifting arm’s arrow to each position line in turn. Gently move the lifting arm’s arrow along the line past the spring until it stops. We then take our reading from the line lining up to the key cut grid numbered one to four on the right side of the tool.

So, with our lock in the open position, we can begin our decode:

Position one decodes as a number two cut.

Position two decodes as a number two cut.

Position three, as expected, decodes as a number four cut.

10
11 Position four decodes as a two-cut. Position five decodes as a number three cut. Position six decodes as a number three cut. Position seven decodes as a three cut. Position eight decodes as a number one cut.

This concludes our decode. The lock decodes from bow to tip positions one to eight as a key of “22423331”.

The key number is DH0541, simply cut to the code or input the cuts into your cutting machine to cut the perfect key.

WE RAISED £265.50 WITH OUR MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING!

On October 5th, UAP held our second Macmillan Coffee Morning, in which staff kindly contributed their great bakes to raise money for charity. We raised a whopping £265.50 just from coffee and cake!

Macmillan cancer charity is one of the largest charities in the UK and provides physical, financial and emotional support to those affected by cancer, making a big difference to their lives and the success of their treatment. They can provide advisers to find solutions for covering the costs associated with care, granting loans to patients who need it. Their philosophy is that cancer patients should not be burdened by the additional costs and worries of their disease in order

to make their treatment less of a struggle. 1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer in our lifetime, with 363,000 recorded new cases every year. Donations to cancer charities such as Macmillan go towards the prevention and treatment of cancer, making it more likely that those affected will survive the disease.

This year, cancer patients are struggling to pay for their care and other needs due to the cost of living crisis. Patients may need to pay for transport to treatment and to power medical devices at home, among other additional costs. Macmillan are encouraging anyone who can to donate to help patients with these costs. You can donate online here.

UAP ARE G22 AWARD FINALISTS FOR SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR!

For the second year in a row, UAP are finalists at the G-Awards, this time in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category. We’re also main event sponsors for the awards this year.

At last year’s G21 awards, we were winners in the Covid Business Hero category and finalists in two other categories. We won Covid Business Hero due to our quick response to the Coronavirus crisis, locking down our site, enabling work from home before the rest of the country locked down, and producing our own PPE which was later donated to local hospices and other businesses.

The G-Awards are the largest awards institution for the glass and glazing industry, running since 2004, and celebrating excellence in the industry. Speaking of 2021’s event, organiser Tony Higgin says: “This year was a tremendous success, especially having to miss out on 2020, so we have wasted no time in booking the hotel so we can do it all again next year”.

The G22 Awards will be held on the 25th of November 2022 at the InterContinental London on Park Lane, London, hosted alongside a gala dinner.

QUESTION:

I have truecode Nissan software purchased from Tradelock some time ago. I have NTC2 for Nissan that has Navara listed, but can it do a prox key for my own 2015 D23 Model as it’s not listed on the menu?

ANSWER:

You are correct, it is not listed on the coverage. The good news is yes, it can do the NP300 navara on the D23 model. It’s much the same system as the juke, you would select juke prox key as the system selection and code in as a juke. Timing is crucial - when instructed to press key to start button, you will have to do so within a few seconds or it may fail. On some occasions when you select and enter the pin, the page may freeze and not move on. If this happens, just proceed with the procedure as normal without the prompts and

the key will code in.

QUESTION:

I have a 2010 Fiesta using HU101 key with AKL. The door lock is faulty with the 6th position feeling like the wafer is missing as I cannot feel a wafer in position 6, so I went to pick the ignition but I don’t think my tool goes all the way in the lock as can only feel 8 wafers in positions 1 to 8. Is there an issue with these?

ANSWER:

With the door lock, it is likely the wafer in position 6 is a number 1 cut and it is seized in its position. If this is the case, the tool will still pick and decode the door lock but a key will not fully enter the lock. You can lubricate the lock and work on the wafer or strip it down to confirm and fix this. You can pick and decode the ignition to confirm this as well if position 6 is a 1 cut. With regards the ignition only having wafers in positions 1 to 8, this is common. I’ve attended a lot of Ford with only wafers 1 to 8 in the ignition. If you’re unable to decode the door, pick and decode ignition. You will get your cuts 1 to 8. You know position 10 will be a 2 cut, so cut the first key as a 1 in position 9, then a 2 etc, and only use 1 blank to get the correct key. It’s common on Fiesta to only have positions 1 to 8 in ignition.
