FAQs as we transition from Serving Our Neighbors (SON) Ministries to Festa
Where did ‘Festa’ come from? We wanted a name that focused on the ‘assets’ of our ministry rather than the needs we exist to fill, AND we wanted a name that FEELS the way our programs feel. For many years now guests who come to tour our programs say the same thing: “WOW! This is amazing! I had no idea this was happening in MY town! It is incredible – so many people who clearly adore each other! It feels like a party here!” We wanted our name to have the same warm, community building, hospitality feeling. Festa represents the spirit of SON Ministries and how we make each of our programs festive and welcoming to our volunteers, guests and community. Our programs foster fellowship, networking and collaboration between our volunteers and the communities we serve. We celebrate giving in a fun and engaging atmosphere. Festa represents a new beginning and the feeling of hospitality and togetherness. It just so happens that Festa stands for what we do and how we do it: F = feed E = educate S = serve T = train A = We are investigating creating an accreditation program for communities that go through our training, that would help them run GREAT programs to life children and their families out of poverty and the accreditation would help them raise resources to pay for it.
