Welcome to Tynan Motors MercedesTrophy 2023. Monday 13 March, 2023. Cronulla Golf Club Elouera Road Cronulla.

The Event.

• 7.30am Tea & Coffee available from the Bar

• 8.00am Breakfast served from Bistro

• 8.40 Golf briefing

• 8.50 Players to move to their holes

• 9.00am Shotgun start

• Individual Stableford - Men (Black tees) Ladies (Green tees)

• NTP 18th Hole (1 Division)

• Longest drive (must be on the fairway) 17th Hole (Mens Division & Ladies Division)

• Please sign & hand in completed scorecard to the pro shop at the completion of your round

• On course drinks cart will be available

• 1.30pm Lunch & post golf drinks will be served in the clubhouse

• Please carry a sand bucket and fill in your divots, as well as repair all your pitch marks on the greens.

• To ensure round time is no more than 4hr 20min.

• Keep up with the group in front.

• Pick up your ball if you cannot score on a hole.

Progression to the National Final will require meeting a number of eligibility requirements including:

1. Having a valid Golf Link Number and Golf Australia Handicap

2. Being an amateur golfer over the age of 18

3. If you have played in a MercedesTrophy Australian Final in 2021 or 2022 you will not be eligible to participate in the 2023 MercedesTrophy Australian Final

4. Meeting the conditions of the MercedesTrophy tournament (detailed on the RSVP link). In order to guarantee equality of opportunity and ensure comparability of results for all players participating in the MercedesTrophy Golf Day, the National Finalists will be determined using the below qualification route:

a. Three (3) finalists will be determined from the highest, eligible stableford points score from three (3) dynamic handicap classes – A Grade, B Grade, C Grade

b. Handicap classes for each of A Grade, B Grade and C Grade will be determined dynamically by sorting all players Golf Australia handicaps into ascending numerical order and dividing the field into three (3) evenly distributed handicap categories

c. A winner from each handicap class (A Grade, B Grade, C Class) will then be determined

(to be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf – January 2019)

1. OUT OF BOUNDS

a. All boundary fences, where no fence exists the boundary is defined by the common fence line of adjoining properties and Clubhouse.

b. The Clubhouse and concrete paths surrounding the Clubhouse defined by black painted lines.

c. Whilst playing the 16th hole, the right-hand side of the line of black and white OOB pegs (internal out of bounds).

2. ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITION (INCLUDING IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS) Rule 16

a. Wire guards / supports: Relief may be taken under Rule 16-1b from wire guards except when they form part of a boundary fence. Relief may be taken from all wire guard angle supports.

If the wire guard on the 7th hole interferes with a player’s line of play the player receives line of sight relief (nearest point either end of fence) to where the ball is positioned, no nearer the hole.

b. Relief for embedded ball: Rule 16.3 in general area.

3. STAKED TREES AND SHRUBS IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)

a) All stakes on the course defining border for a Penalty Area, garden or tree/shrub area are immovable obstructions. Relief may be taken under Rule 16-1b except when a player’s ball is in a Penalty Area or the stakes marking the internal out-of-bounds when playing the 16th hole.

b) Stone retaining walls are immovable obstructions.

4. STAKED TREES No Play Zone

Staked trees and staked shrubs are no play zones and are ground under repair (the GUR includes the stake and any wrapping. Relief is taken in accordance with 16-1b.

Except in a Penalty Area, when a staked tree or shrub interferes with players stance or intended area of swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16-1b.

Players may take relief from all 100m & 150m marker shrubs and surrounds as per rule 16-1b.

5. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – NO PLAY ZONE

Course Gardens, defined by green stakes or signage is a no play zone that is to be treated as an abnormal course condition. Free relief must be taken from interference by the no play zone under Rule 16.1f.

Play is prohibited from any garden area marked by Green Stakes or signage. Relief must be taken as provided in Rule 16-1a.

)6. GROUND UNDER REPAIR

a) All areas defined by white stakes and/or white lines.

b) Clearly defined wheel ruts made by course maintenance machinery.

7. PENALTY AREA Rule 17

The main dam is a Yellow Penalty Area (yellow lines) when playing the 12th hole and a Red Penalty Area (red lines) when playing other holes.

8. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (EG SPRINKLER HEADS) CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS – LINE OF PLAY INTERFERENCE.

Rule 16.1b applies to immovable obstructions close to putting greens. In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the player’s line of play, and is within two club-lengths of the putting green, and is within two club-lengths of the ball. (Exception – There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.)

9. TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES

Preferred lies (if course conditions warrant, will be stipulated by the committee) When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area (as per conditions of the day), the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball within one scorecard length of the spot of the original ball (but with these limits: must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and must be in the general area). For a ball that does not come to rest on the spot it is originally placed, see Rule 14.2e.

When taking a preferred lie, all players must first mark their golf ball prior to picking the ball up

a) All stakes on the golf course which are not being used as a defining border for a Penalty Area, garden or tree/shrub are to be classed as movable obstructions.

b) When utilising a drop zone on the golf course, players are to drop their golf ball in the nearest drop zone specified for that relief area from where their ball lies, unless there is a specifically designated/ marked drop zone to be used for a particular hole. When the player is using a dropping zone, the ball must be dropped in the dropping zone and it must come to rest in the dropping zone.

(DROP ZONE on 18th is for Garden to the rear and to the right of the 18th only)

c) Bird damage, bare patches and exposed or protruding tree roots in the General Area cut to fairway height or less, are to be treated as G.U.R.(excludes divots whether sand-filled or not)

d) Sand filled divots are not classed as bare patches.

e) All new works to be treated as GUR
