otorists who have experienced traffic delays over the past two years on the Stellenbosch Arterial and Polkadraai Roads in Kuils River will soon be breathing a sigh of relief.

This, at least, is the opinion of the department of transport and public works regarding the R14 million upgrade which started

in October 2013.

Several deadlines have been scheduled, including December 2014 and April 2015.

The new date for completion, according to the department, is next month – news that local ward 14 councillor Bert van Dalen is delighted about.

“This project has been dragging on for quite some time. It is time it gets done.

“The construction has caused a lot of inconvenience for motorists and we have re-

ceived a lot of complaints from the public,” van Dalen said.

Byron la Hoe, spokesperson for the department, said urgent repairs were required on the Stellenbosch Arterial (M12) between the Strand/Van Riebeeck Road intersection and the Polkadraai dual carriageway (direction Stellenbosch).

“The M12, which carries over 15 000 vehicles daily, was upgraded at the same time.

It was last refurbished in May 1991,” la Hoe

said.

Completed works to date include a new carriageway, new street lighting, upgraded stormwater works, the rehabilitation of the Kuils River railway bridge, and the protection and relocation of various utility services.

Van Dalen said a traffic circle that was temporarily put in place during the construction process, is something that should perhaps be kept in place.

azz lovers in the northern suburbs can prepare themselves for a treat later this year when the first ever jazz festival takes place in the area.

The Winelands Music Festival will be held at the Zevenwacht Wine Estate on 1 November.

According to organiser Kevin Petersen, the open air festival is set to cater for the whole family.

Kevin, who owns the company Bank Records, which has hosted similar events in the past, but on a much smaller scale, said the November festival will be the largest paid festival he has undertaken although he has organised events on a similar scale for charity.

Up to 2 500 jazz and music lovers are expected to come to the festival and a mixture of music, from jazz to pop to opera, will be performed, Kevin said.

“With this festival we want to create a platform for young artists to perform alongside more established artists,” he said.

Kevin and his team started planning the festival four months ago.

“We visited a few other venues, we did some research, went to other concerts and supported other artists to see what they were doing.

“What we are now trying to do is give other artists the platform to perform and get some exposure.”

South African multi-award winning pop band Beatenberg will be a headline attraction on the main stage, he said.

Other artists lined up include opera singer Mthetho Mapoyi, Natasha Meister, Paige Mac and Top Dog. “We encourage Cape Town to come out

Van Dalen added: “It is about time this intersection gets upgraded. I am happy that the end is finally in sight.”

The construction work caused tremendous traffic congestion that has severely inconvenienced many motorists and businesses.

Deidré Stephanus, owner of Steph’s Transport in Kuils River which transports school children daily, said most of her drivers had to be on the road by 05:30 on week days.

“The congestion on the road caused our drivers to be about 15 minutes late in the morning,” she said.

Stephanus added: “The road works took a lot of time out of the day. The September deadline will be a big help to us.

“Our drivers will be less stressed and the children hopefully not so tired anymore.”

La Hoe said because the road has been in use all the time, traffic accommodation measures had to be put in place.

Road works on the Stellenbosch Arterial are set to be completed by next month, news which most motorists in the area will welcome.

“There were a number of delays during the rainy season, and these are still possible

during the remaining four weeks of construction.”

Vigilantism no answer to crime @richardjohn_rj

esidents in Kalkfontein were again reminded not to take the law into their own hands last week.

The warning by Kuils River station commander Colonel Pieter Galant came after the death of a man two months ago who was a suspect in a murder case.

Galant was addressing a group of about 50 people during a public meeting at the Kalkfontein Community Hall last Thursday.

“We cannot allow criminals to hold our community hostage, but we also cannot allow the police to not do their job,” he said.

Galant said residents who are unhappy with the justice process should direct their concerns to the police and community structures equipped to assist them.

“Some people might not be comfortable

with talking to the police directly. That is why these community structures are important, to speak to the police on behalf of the community.”

Galant said people should be encouraged to speak about their concerns and by so doing, prevent future cases of vigilantism.

After the address residents were afforded the opportunity to raise their concerns.

One woman said a major concern was the police’s poor response time. “Whenever I call the police and inform them that there is a thief on my property, they drag their feet,” she said.

“Another thing we are unhappy about are the patrols. The police often patrol during the week, but weekends when it is most important they are nowhere to be seen.”

A second resident said police patrols were up to standard until 2009, but they no longer see visible policing in the crime, drug and gang-ridden area. “Crime was lower then.

Please patrol more,” she asked.

Residents also asked police to install a flood light which might help decrease crime.

Galant said police in Kuils River are responsible for more than 73 000 residents across an area of 37 square kilometres.

“The Kuils River and Mfuleni policing areas are currently receiving the highest number of complaints in the province.

“We therefore need to prioritise things.

This is not an excuse, but I am saying this so people can understand. The number of people on duty who are supposed to police the whole area is not always sufficient.”

The police said they will arrange a prosecutor to address the community and explain the judicial system’s processes.

“Often people are released after being arrested. This does not mean the case is finalised. People have the right to bail and to be released on warning,” Galant said.

Kapt. Fienie Nimb, woordvoerder van dié polisiekantoor, vertel: “Doubell het uitgegaan en dadelik onraad gemerk. Al sy motordeure was oop. Toe hy binne-in kyk, sien hy sy versameling van 23 CD’s is vermis.”

Doubell is toe eers teen 12:00 gimnasium toe, en “dis net asof iets vir hom gesê het hy moet gou ’n draai by die plaaslike pandjieswinkel gaan maak”, vertel Nimb.

“Toe hy daar kom, was daar volgens die

personeel nog niemand die dag om CD’s te probeer verpand nie. Hulle het hom na ’n Brackenfellse pandjieswinkel verwys, naby die CapeGate-leefstylsentrum. “Toe hy daar aankom, sien hy ’n verdagte man buite die pandjieswinkel op ’n groot klip sit. Doubell kon dadelik sien dat iets met dié mannetjie nie pluis is nie, maar het dit toe daar gelaat,” vertel Nimb. “Toe hy by die winkel instap, is daar is jong man voor hom in die ry. Waaragtig, dié het toe ’n hele lot CD’s in sy hande wat hy wil verkwansel.

“Toe Doubell met hom praat, het hy besef die hele lot is sy éie CD’s wat daardie oggend uit die motor gesteel is! Hy het die Brackenfell-polisie ontbied, en hulle het dié man in hegtenis geneem. Die een wat buite gesit het, het al die aksie gesien en die hasepad gekies,” sê Nimb. Hy is steeds soek.

Samel klere in: Tafelronde 65 van Bellville het in Julie sy jaarlikse Winter Knights-projek gehou om klere en komberse vir hulpbehoewende mense in te samel. Tydens die projek staan lede van Tafelronde 65 een aand in die koue en wag vir mense om hul gebruikte klere en komberse na ’n sentrale punt te bring. Vanjaar het inwoners van Bellville, Durbanville en verskeie ander woonbuurte hul hart oopgemaak en die projek mildelik ondersteun, en sommer ook nie-bederfbare kos aan die projek geskenk. Op Donderdag 7 Augustus is alles wat ingesamel is, aan The Haven-nagskuiling in Bellville geskenk. Hier by die paneelwa volgeprop met al die items, is van links Ernie Petersen (voorsitter van Tafelronde 65), Deon Basson (toesighouer by The Haven) en Gerhard van der Bank (lid van Tafelronde 65).

“Trojaanse perd” in Wesbank klink dalk na iets ongewoon, maar glo dit of nie, hier pronk een – ’n bloedrooie.

En hoewel dit nie groot genoeg is vir ’n volwassene om daarin te klouter nie, is die eienaar, Vuyisile Jackson Jezile, baie trots op sy hings.

Jezile het die perd onlangs gekoop by ’n kunstenaar op die De Zalze-gholflandgoed waar hy werk.

Die perd is glo tydens 2010 se Wêreldbekersokkertoernooi by die V&A Waterfront in Kaapstad uitgestal, sê Jezile.

“Ek het dit gesien en daarvan gehou.

“Die perd is R50 000 werd, maar ek het hom gekoop vir R15 000,” vertel hy buite sy huis met ’n koppie tee in die hand.

Sy plan is om die perd tot in Ngcobo in die Oos-Kaap, waar hy grootgeword het en dees-

dae ’n vakansiehuis besit, te vervoer.

“Die mense vra egter te veel geld om dit so ver te vervoer,” sê Jezile.

Vir tyd en wyl staan dit voor sy skoonseun se huis in Hoofweg, enkele meters verder af in die straat. “Ek het nie tans bergplek vir die ding nie,” sê hy.

“Ek is baie lief vir perde. Ek het as kind dikwels perdgery op Elliot, waar ek grootgeword het. My pa het twee perde besit,” sê Jezile, wat op 15 Januarie 1971 na die Kaap verhuis het.

Hy vertel dat hy oor die jare by verskeie plase as ambagsman gewerk het, insluitende die spogplase Spier en Avontuur in Stellenbosch.

Jezile, ’n pa van vyf en oupa van agt kleinkinders, se hande en gesig reflekteer jare se harde werk.

“Ek wil die perd na Ngcobo neem wanneer ek eendag aftree. Ek soek nou net iemand om dit soontoe te vervoer,” sê hy glimlaggend.

Haar liefde vir borduurwerk en tuinmaak is iets wat dié Wesbank-ouma nie maklik ontslae van sal raak nie – al kan sy nie meer loop nie.

Ouma Christina Klein (63) van Rowellanstraat, Wesbank wat vir jare lank as huishulp gewerk het om haar kinders te voed, het sowat ses maande gelede ná ’n beroerte-aanval haar vermoë verloor om te kan loop.

Sy vertel egter dat dit haar nie sal keer om haar passie vir brei en liefde vir die tuin voort te sit nie.

As sy iets gedoen wil hê, is dit haar dogter, Leana Klein (28), se plig om haar van die bed op te tel en te dra.

Ouma Christina Klein van Wesbank is nog bitter lief vir borduurwerk en tuinmaak, ondanks die feit dat sy nie meer kan loop nie. By haar is ’n jarelange vriendin, Marlene Diergaardt.

“Partymaal wil ek ook net buitekant sit en die mense en motors dophou wat verbyry,” sê sy saggies uit haar enkelbed.

“My ma is baie lief vir die tuin, plante plant en brei. Sy was voorheen baie bedrywig en kon nooit stilsit nie. Sy was ewe lief vir wasgoed was en skoonmaak,” vertel Leana.

Christina is ook drie maande gelede met kanker gediagnoseer. “Sy ontvang darem behandeling daarvoor en doen goed,” sê Leana.

Marlene Diergaardt (50), ’n jarelange vriendin en borduurwerk-entoesias, sê sy is trots op Christina.“Sy het my baie gehelp.

Vir meer as sewe jaar het ons saam geborduur. Een ding is verseker, sy is bitter goed,” sê Marlene met ’n breë glimlag.

Two murderers put behind bars Two men who murdered a 27-year-old man more that two years ago, have been handed down a combined 20 years direct imprisonment.

The men were involved in a murder that occurred at a Driftsands spaza shop on 9 May 2013, said provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut.

The first accused, Linda Qombeni (26), was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment. His co-accused, Nqaba Ntlongotya (27) was

sentenced to eight years. Ntlongotya was found guilty of murder as well as aggravated robbery.

“They were both sentenced on Tuesday 14 July at the regional court at the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court,” Traut said.

Colonel Luyanda Damoyi, station commander at the Mfuleni police station, thanked everyone involved in helping to trace the suspects.

He also thanked the community for providing information.

house on an open piece of land near the Vrygrond informal settlement in Kalkfontein has gone from being a once complete structure, to nothing more than a shell.

The house, which is situated next to a dirt road which extends from Reuter Street, Kalkfontein, was once occupied by a law enforcement official. However, due to ongoing unrest and protest action in the area by illegal land invaders earlier this year, the house ended up being petrol bombed and abandoned as a result.

The attack on the house occurred in March this year. TygerBurger reported on the incident at the time, explaining how illegal land invaders – mostly youngsters – flung home-made petrol bombs at the house.

Kuils River police station commander Colonel Pieter Galant said at the time an unknown suspect threw a petrol bomb at the house on Thursday 12 July. “There were some black smoke, but it did no damage to the house,” Galant said in March.

The occupants of the house left the area, after which individuals seeking to make money from selling scrap metal descended upon it, carrying away iron and plastic pipes, large parts of the roof and ceiling. Some bricks were also being knocked out when TygerBurger visited the house a month later.

During a more recent visit, only the outside walls were still standing.

Attempts to confirm to whom the house or the property belongs, have been unsuccessful.

The house, it was established from the local council office, does not have an erf number itself, but is registered under a mother erf number which comprises a large piece of land previously used for farming activities.

Sekerheidswag van die maatskappy G4S is verlede week in die Eersterivier-winkelsentrum beroof.

Die wag het glo buite die deur van Capitecbanktak gestaan toe drie mans hom genader en oorval het. Hy is van sy dienspistool en koeëlvaste baadjie beroof.

Kol. Vernon Bester, bevelvoerder by die Kleinvlei-polisiekantoor, sê die wag se kollega was binne die bank besig by die kluis tydens die voorval. “Hy is aangeval deur drie gewapende mans. Hulle het hom oorval en hom ontneem van sy wapen en koeëlvaste baadjie, waarna hulle te voet gevlug het,” vertel Bester.

’n Wag van die G4S-sekerheidsgroep is verlede week buite die Capitec-tak in die Eersterivierwinkelsentrum beroof. Die Kleinvlei-polisie is nog op soek na die drie gewapende rowers.

Hulle loop tot by ’n gewapende wag en beroof hom. Dis ’n bron van kommer,” sê hy.

Kleinvlei police are investigating a recent robbery and hijacking in Old Blue Downs.

Kleinvlei police commander Colonel Vernon Bester last week said the driver of a Hyundai and his girlfriend were attacked on Saturday 1 August.

“The man apparently withdrew about R750 from an ATM. They then drove to Old Blue Downs. Someone was following him,” Bester said.

“The victim stopped his vehicle when one of the attackers threw a brick at the car.

The victim tried to fight back, but they were accosted by three attackers,” Bester said.

The woman was dragged from the car.

The victims were both searched and robbed.

“The suspects then jumped into the car and drove off,” Bester added.

The vehicle was recovered a few hours later in nearby Happy Valley.

Kalkfontein Development Forum to meet

“The City of Cape Town provided a vacant site for the facility in an area earmarked for future urban upgrading and the development of sport and recreational facilities.

“It is planned that once the permanent CDC is complete, the department will hand over the building to the City for use as a multi-purpose community hall.”

The temporary CDC includes 63 shipping containers converted for use as consulting rooms and for other clinical and support functions.

Die oorledene, die 65-jarige Eden Samuels van Haroldstraat, Devon Park, was saam met sy dogter toe hy aangeval is. Over 7 000 live on streets ASTRID FEBRUARIE

A

survey of street people conducted by the City of Cape Town has recorded there are 7 383 homeless people living in shelters and on the streets of the Metropole.

A first in South Africa, the City completed the headcount in the space of 10 days.

The City’s Social Development and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Directorate revealed the findings of their research which set out to determine the number of people on the city’s streets and better understand the phenomenon of homelessness.

Researcher Lynn Hendricks said a mapbook was used to cluster the city into five areas, with a team allocated to each area.

“Five teams were each made up of six permanent workers, four Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) workers and four law enforcement officers.

“Staff bravely weathered the cold and walked the streets from 04:00 to 11:30 after a briefing at the office,” said Hendricks.

It was found there were 50 or more homeless people living in each of the the following areas: Cape Town CBD, Foreshore, Bellville, Goodwood, Strandfontein, Parow, Wynberg, Sea Point, Portlands, Table View, Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain, Kuils River, Claremont, Woodstock, Lansdowne, Lentegeur, Muizenberg, Vredehoek, Oranjezicht, Retreat and Milnerton.

“The state of homelessness as we currently face it is different to what we observed just a few years ago,” said Hendricks.

She said homelessness is a growing problem and in order to understand the phenomenon, it is important to find out why people find themselves homeless, the different pathways to homelessness, the homeless culture, exit strategies for homelessness and possible interventions.

Mayco member for social development, Suzette Little, said the street people count coincides with an approximate R10 million investment in the directorate’s Street People Programme this financial year.

“The budget for this programme has grown from R4,5m in 2013/14 to R7,8m in 2014/15 to R9,7m in 2015/16 – an increase of more than 100%,” she said.

Little said the research team operated in the early morning hours to make it easier to distinguish between people who sleep on the street and socalled “day strollers” or job seekers.

Little said the City has made tremendous strides in their efforts to holistically address the complex phenomenon of homelessness.

“It is not something unique to Cape Town, but I would like to think we have charted a good course in how we address it,” she said.

Little said the City has three objectives. The first is to help as many people who want to get off the streets as possible.

The second is preventative in nature: To stop others from migrating to the streets. The third objective is to sensitise the public through their Give Responsibly campaign.

“We cannot force people to accept our offers of assistance but we are determined to help each and every person who wants to help themselves,” said Little.

Report crime so police can fight crime Why does it take the death of one of their own before police put all their manpower and effort into finding the murderers?

Last week Warrant Officer Petrus Holz, a Hawks official, was stabbed to death next to the N2 while changing a flat tyre.

He stopped after his vehicle hit obstacles placed in the road by the culprits to force unsuspecting victims to pull over. Arrests followed two days later.

We constantly hear about attacks and stone throwing at certain hot spots on the N2 and the R300, but we almost never hear of anyone being arrested for the crime. Upon investigation, it turns out many of these incidents, much like many other crimes, were never reported.

The police cannot act when they don’t know a crime has been committed. They can’t arrest anyone on hearsay, and they can’t investigate a crime they heard of through the grapevine. Yet they are first in line when the public starts handing out blame because nothing was done.

The problem is there is still a perception among many that reporting a crime won’t bear any fruit – just another docket to add to the unsolved pile.

In too many communities people live in fear of criminals, so they rather keep mum on what they have seen. As long as we remain quiet, criminals have the upper hand and will continue to terrorise our communities. It is time to drop the “it won’t help attitude” and speak up.

Give those responsible for enforcing our laws the ammunition to help keep us safe.

Dit is duidelik nie die geval nie. Dit gebeur steeds dat kinders oor Voortrekkerweg hardloop op pad na die Hoërskool Parow. Dit reën, dis donker, die kinders dra donker skoolbaadjies en jy as ’n motoris moet net rem en teen 5 km/h ry om die kinders te kan raaksien. Moet nog ’n tragedie gebeur?

Daar moet ook onthou word dat die motoris wat in ’n kind vasry ook trauma beleef. Hoe kan ons die kinders en die motoris beskerm? Ek ry elke oggend daardie pad en my keel slaan toe om te sien hoe die kinders voor die karre inloop.

Great soccer show despite thin crowds I would like to congratulate the City of Cape Town for organising the Cape Town Cup. They have come in for a lot of flack from people saying that it was a financial disaster, the teams were not of the calibre of Manchester United, etc.

Unfortunately the weather didn’t play along on the Friday night and attendance was low.

But this did not affect the quality of the games played and led to an exciting final on the Sunday.

There are inevitable teething problems the first time an event on this scale is organised. The pricing structure was corrected, even if a bit late.

Obviously any of the top five English Premier League teams would draw the crowds, but it is not always possible to book them. We still have a world

class stadium to be proud of and plenty of other excellent overseas and local teams to call on.

Maybe if the organisers could develop the tournament as a Charity Cup to benefit poorer communities, and not televise the final live in the Cape metropole area, it would encourage ticket sales. Also offer a limited number of free tickets to all the registered local football clubs and that would ensure that enthusiasm is created.

I hope the tournament will be continued next year as it would surely become a highlight on the local football calendar.

My vrou Susan se toestand verswak basies daagliks, en hierdie samekoms is gehou om twee redes: 1) Om Alzheimer se siekte aan die breër publiek bekend te stel, asook die nagevolge wat hierdie siekte vir die lyer, sowel as versorger, inhou; 2) Om fondse in te samel, asook ander items wat gebruik word om ander Alzheimer-lyers se lot te probeer help verlig.

Dus wil ek as die versorger van Susan ’n ieder en elk bedank wat by hierdie projek betrokke was.

Daar is regtig so baie, so ek wil nie uitsonderings maak en dalk iemand vergeet nie. Die persone weet wie hulle is.

Robot timing needs attention I fully support Liz’s comments on the reconfigured traffic lights at the Fairtrees/Vygeboom intersection (“Traffic planning not correctly done”, TB, 5 August). The timing is so poorly set that traffic backs up on Fairtrees – the busier road – even in non-peak hours.

In fact, soon after the change, I e-mailed the City’s Transport Information Centre on this very matter and received a reply stating that it would be investigated. It had better happen soon as, impatience being rife on our roads, it is only a matter of time before someone takes a chance and causes an accident.

todels Nurseries in Bellville is again offering a popular gardening course and one lucky reader can win a spot.

The competition is open to anyone wanting to know more about the basics of gardening, or people working as gardeners who wish to improve their knowledge.

Those able to commit to one day per week attendance during September will learn the basic gardening skills offered in this practical and theoretical course.

These include knowing the types of soil, soil preparation, how to fix sandy or clay soil, organic and chemical fertilisers and why they are needed, compost and how to use if effectively, planting shrubs, trees and annuals.

The course will also cover watering effectively and water wastage, pruning of all plants – including roses – as well as pests and diseases and how to treat them. It even covers the basics of spraying.

At the end of the programme, participants will write an exam and receive a certificate to prove they have learnt the gardening basics.

This might help kick-start a new job, or assist in finding additional work as a gardener.

The next course takes place on Wednesdays 9, 16, 23 and 30 September and space is limited to 15. The course is free of charge.

Parenting course offered Prize for most beautiful pet A course on value-driven parenthood in which teachers and social workers earn points will be presented in Durbanville.

The Value Driven Parenthood course is being run by Badisa Trio - a non-profit child protection organisation working in Cape Town’s northern suburbs - the Western Cape Education Department and Evergreen Parenting.

The course will be presented on 19 August, 14 October, and 17 February next year.

Interested parents, teachers, facilitators and professional child therapists are invited to attend. Badisa Trio also invites foster parents to attend The course will be facilitated by psychologist Lize van der Merwe who equips parents to guide their children with confidence and works with children struggling with ADHD

and learning problems.

The course is registered for CPD Points at the Council for Social Service Professionals and any teacher or professional therapist who attends will earn points.

Session one will focus on the seven core values of value-driven parenting, session two on the temperaments of children and their parents, and session three will emphasise creative, practical discipline.

The sessions will be held at the Eversdal Primary School in Durbanville at no cost.

Sessions will start at 18:00 and are two hours long. Donations will be welcome and used to finance Evergreen parenting workshops for parents whose children has been removed from them by the state.

AANSOEK OM TOELAEBEFONDSING VIR 2015/16: MAATSKAPLIKE ONTWIKKELING EN VROEËKINDONTWIKKELING Die Stad Kaapstad se direktoraat maatskaplike ontwikkeling en vroeëkindontwikkeling (SDECD) nooi geregistreerde gemeenskapsorganisasies en organisasies sonder winsbejag om aansoek te doen om befondsing vir ontwikkelingsprojekte. Die aansoekers se kernbesigheid moet in pas wees met die SDECD se mandjie dienste hieronder. Hierdie versoek is in pas met die strategiese fokus in die Stad se geïntegreerde ontwikkelingsplan wat gerig is op die bou van ‘n omgee- en inklusiewe stad, en is verder daarop gemik om die doelwitte van die Stad se strategie vir maatskaplike ontwikkeling te bevorder.

Doen op die amptelike aansoekvorm aansoek, tesame met die volgende gesertifiseerde stawende dokumente: •

’n Afskrif van die jongste, geouditeerde finansiële state of ouditsertifikaat indien daar in vorige boekjare toelaebefondsing van die Stad ontvang is. Die bedrag van die toelae ontvang moet aangedui word. Indien die bedrag minder as R25 000 was, is slegs ‘n afskrif van die finale bestedingsverslag ten opsigte van die vorige toelae nodig. ’n Afskrif van die organisasie se grondwet. ’n Afskrif van die organisasie se registrasiesertifikaat. ’n Afskrif van die organisasie se jongste munisipale eiendomsbelasting-endiensterekening (indien van toepassing). ’n Nulkoers-BTW-rekening indien die aansoeker ’n BTW-verskaffer is.

Die oorspronklike en jongste onvervalde SAID-belastingklaringsertifikaat Aansoeke sonder ‘n geldige belastingklaringsertifikaat sal nie aanvaar word nie.

Besonderhede van ander finansiering wat vir die huidige boekjaar van die Stad ontvang word.

Breedvoerige beskrywing van die projek wat met die finansiering en volgens die doel van die toelae geïmplementeer sal word. Projekte moet in pas wees met die SDECD se mandjie dienste, wat insluit: • Jeugontwikkeling (lewensvaardighede, entrepreneurs- en werkgereedheidsvaardighede en organisatoriese vaardighede) • Bewustheids- en voorkomende intervensies vir middelmisbruik • Intervensies vir armoedeverligting • Programme vir die hantering van kwesbare groepe se behoeftes, in die besonder bejaardes, vroue en kinders. Een van die direktoraat se kernfokusse is intervensies vir ‘n gesonde leefstyl vir bejaardes • Programme ter ondersteuning van die direktoraat se doelwit om die getal mense wat op straat leef, te verminder • Programme ter ondersteuning van vroeëkindonderrig en -ontwikkeling • Programme met die doelwit om gemeenskapskohesie en -integrasie te kweek Gedetailleerde ontleding van projekkoste. ’n Minimum toekenning van R100 000 per projekkoste sal oorweeg word.

Die sakeplan wat saam met die toelae-aansoek ingedien word, moet ’n begin- en einddatum vir die projek bevat.

Eiendom wat vir die projek gebruik word, moet aan die Raad se beleide en verordeninge voldoen.

Indien hierdie eiendom gehuur word, moet die huurkontrak as stawende dokumentasie ingedien word.
