Lego fans get arty!

The CapeLUG hosted a brick show and MOC (My Own Creation) exhibition on Saturday 14 March at the Table Bay Mall in Sunningdale. They have created a space and display for Lego fans to get together and share their love and knowledge of building. On display were the Ghostbusters fire station, Old fishing store and Haunted House, along with members’ amazing MOCs, including Bat Band and Harry Potter. The Star Wars fans enjoyed a dedicated area with many great sets including the Ewok Village, First Order Star Destroyer, Millennium Falcon and Saturn V rocket ship. MARINE CONSERVATION: TOURISM BOOST FOR TABLE VIEW

he development of a new visitor centre for Sanccob has been set in motion at their Table View branch, which will boost education and tourism. This was con-

ceptualised from the need to upgrade Sanccob’s current education room to accommodate larger groups of learners, host training workshops and materialise an income generating initiative to become more self-sustainable. According to Sharnay Wagner, Sanccob’s education supervisor, education

is one of the pillars of their vision to bring marine conservation into the lives of young people. “Some of the school groups we host at the centre are Learners with Special Education Needs (LSEN), so the lessons and setting we provide is truly a life-changing experience for them,” Wagner said. She added

that universally accessible ablution facilities will also be installed. This building project was initially part of Sanccob’s seabird hospital plan and with the hospital now opened, since November 2018, they have finally moved forward with the visitor centre.

A

nxiety, fear and frustration are just a few of the emotions felt as the coronavirus spreads in South Africa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a national state of disaster on Sunday 15 March, implementing emergency measures to curb the spread of the virus.

One of these includes banning gatherings of 100 people or more, leading to the cancellation of hundreds of events across the country.

TygerBurger spoke to various people across different sectors who are affected by the virus.

Emergency measures Measures Ramaphosa announced include the following: . A travel ban for foreign nationals from high-risk countries, including Britain, Italy, Iran, Spain, Germany, China and the United States. South African citizens are also advised to refrain from travelling to highrisk countries. . A ban on gatherings of 100 people or more. . Schools closed earlier until after Easter weekend break. . Visits to correctional facilities cancelled for the next 30 days. . “Non-essential” domestic travel by air, taxis and buses is discouraged Ramaphosa also called on people to wash their hands for 20 seconds, to sneeze with a closed hand into a tissue or elbow and to avoid those with flu-like symptoms.

Academics Classes, tests and graduations were called off to differing degrees at different tertiary institutions. The University of the Western

Cape (UWC) has opted for a virtual graduation ceremony, whereas Stellenbosch University (US) has cancelled its ceremonies.

Aaron Simmonds, an accounting student from Brackenfell who studies at Maties says he thinks it’s “the best”.

“I’m a bit bleak that I won’t get to write my tests, but I have had and continue to have full faith in the university. Its timeous communications and considerations for our health is a comfort in this time of confusion and fake news.”

Sport Niel Rossouw (43), was supposed to take part in the Absa Cape Epic bike race.

Entries for a team for the race cost R89 000 and Rossouw and his partner Christiaan Pretorius were aiming to participate in aid of Alta du Toit aftercare in Bellville. Rossouw, who works in Goodwood and comes from Brackenfell, says he estimates he and Barnard spent around R150 000 on this year’s race, including among other things training and bicycles.

His family has also been impacted by his strict training schedule, which has all now been nullified.

Travel The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) told News24 on Monday its members will continue to operate as usual as their business is critical and many would go hungry if cancelled. However, transport minister Fikile Mbalula says random screening will be conducted at train stations and taxi ranks.

Elderly The South African Association for Retired Persons (SAARP) has cancelled all upcoming events until further notice, says Stephanie Visser, part of the organising committee.

“SAARP has over 160 members, all are elderly between 70 and 80 years of age (of whom most live in old age homes).”

From time to time international visitors mostly from Germany and England also come and visit the club.

The club has a meeting, bingo morning and an outing once a month, but due to the coronavirus that is most dangerous to older people, the club will cancel all activities.

Brenden Ruiter, organiser of the event, says those who have bought tickets already, will be notified in due course about a refund. Three men have been arrested after offering a R20 000 bribe to a police detective.

According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, an investigation by a Milnerton police detective into an attempted murder that occurred on Wednesday 04 March led to the arrest of

three men for bribery.

“The detective in the case followed up on leads and identified the man who allegedly shot and wounded the victim.

“Three men of Somali origin arranged to meet with the officer and offered him a bribe of R20 000 for him to make the matter go away.

“The officer ‘agreed’ to the arrangement and reported the matter to his com-

manders,” Rwexana said.

An operation was planned and the meeting took place on 12 March.

At the meeting, the investigating officer was handed a cash amount of R5 000.

Three suspects were arrested and are expected to appear in court once charged for bribery.

One of the men is facing an attempted murder charge.

Mayor monitors upgrade KAILIN DANIELS @k10daniels

M

ayor Dan Plato inspected the progress on the major R1.75 billion upgrade at the Potsdam Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) last week in the hope of ensuring the project remains fasttracked.

This comes after numerous complaints by residents and organisations on the pollution at the Milnerton Lagoon and Diep River Estuary.

Plato inspected progress on the upgrade, which is taking place alongside critical repair work. He was joined by mayco member for water and waste services, Xanthea Limberg, and officials on a plant walkabout on Tuesday 10 March.

According to the Potsdam plant manager, Janet Chunderduri, critical repair work is nearing completion within one to two months and will result in a higher quality effluent.

Maintenance teams are currently on site completing urgent repairs to belt press and UV-light machinery, critical functions in the wastewater treatment process.

Phase 1 of the plant upgrade was completed in January, with a major demolition operation to clear large portions of the property.

New technology and capacity will be progressively added to Potsdam over the next five years. This includes the installation of an upgraded belt press system within three years.

“The plant is currently able to operate sufficiently within its 47 megalitres per day (MLD) capacity while the upgrade is underway. Potsdam’s capacity will be doubled to 100 MLD. New membrane technology will be added as part of the upgrade, enabling treated effluent that is close to potable water standards,’ said Chunderduri.

Plato expressed immense gratitude towards the Milnerton community during his walkabout.

“We can say to the Milnerton community that I am happy with what I’ve seen. Unfortunately, some of the technical equipment will only arrive within a period of two years.

“Ultimately, we want to see a restored environment in the lower part of the estuary and improved safety for recreational activity such as canoeing at Milnerton Lagoon, water sports at Rietvlei Nature Reserve and swimming at Lagoon Beach. Officials have assured me that robust cleansing and enforcement operations are planned for the area. This will help mitigate the societal challenge of pollution from multiple sources,” Plato explained.

Prior to the plant inspection, Plato joined an enforcement blitz in the Montague Gardens industrial area, aimed at cracking

“Businesses large and small that do not uphold our by-laws can expect a knock on the door. We also need the ongoing help of residents to mitigate pollution by reporting illegal dumping into the system and missing drain covers as these invariably lead to sewer blockages and spills,” said Limberg.

In addition, the City has been working to address pollution sources from industrial areas and informal settlements in the Dunoon and Joe Slovo areas. Extensive sewer and stormwater upgrades are at various stages of completion in the broader Diep River catchment area.

he Bayview Netball team in Brooklyn are calling on young women to join the newly-established team.

The team based in Brooklyn was formed for young girls who are passionate about the sport.

According to Irene Palmieri from Bayview Netball, a multi-purpose court was made available to ward 55 by the City of Cape Town’s sport and recreation department recently.

“We are inviting all young girls to join the team to play an amazing sport. The multi-

Covid-19: Artists feeling the pinch TARRYN-LEIGH SOLOMONS @tarryns07 The entertainment industry and the livelihoods of artists are being negatively affected by the state of disaster announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday 15 March.

This according to events management company, Brukman Consulting, after several events which were set to take place across in the coming weeks have either been cancelled or postponed in an effort to curb the spread of the Covid-19.

In his address to the nation on Sunday evening following an urgent Cabinet meeting Ramaphosa announced the following preventative measures where events and

gatherings are concerned: . Gatherings of more than 100 people will be prohibited; . mass celebrations of upcoming national days such as Human Rights Day and other large government events will be cancelled; . where small gatherings are unavoidable, organisers will need to put in place stringent measures of prevention and control.

This in effect means the hosting of major music festivals and shows at GrandWest and the rest of Cape Town need to be put on hold.

In a statement this week, event organisers Glen21 announced the postponement of the Boyz II Men South African tour.

The statement reads: “All information regarding refund options will be communicated to all ticket holders by the end of the week.”

Big Concerts has also announced the postponement of the Lighthouse Family’s SA tour that was due to take place at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on Tuesday 24 March.

In a statement it said: “We are working to reschedule the tour and all tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

“Further information will be sent directly to ticket holders as soon as it becomes available.”

Other major entertainment events that were either postponed or cancelled include Cape Town Carnival, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Smokie and Cape Town City Ballet’s Autumn season.

Blouberg school performed at Shakespeare festival: Blouberg International School learners participated in the 2020 Shakespeare schools festival recently at the Fugard Theatre.

City to address refuse removal backlog T

he City of Cape Town’s refuse collection services should see a steady improvement over the next three weeks.

The disruptions to refuse removal times and subsequent backlogs have been experienced as a result of revised procedures to audit and governance processes that came into effect from 24 January.

According to a statement by the City, this is affecting repairs to vehicles and infrastructure throughout the municipality.

However, this is primarily being felt in the solid waste collections service due to the high demands placed on vehicles ánd the maintenance required to keep the service working.

Various City departments have worked day and night to finalise 709 purchase orders

for the servicing of its 211 refuse vehicles in line with the new audit requirements and to continue the refuse service as best as possible, including timeously clearing backlogs.

Suppliers are also being requested to speed up repairs and maintenance of vehicles to get them back on the road again.

Where applicable, senior staff in the solid waste service has also been recalled from leave to ensure contingencies, such as redistribution of vehicles to worse-affected areas, are in place to minimise the impact on residents while the backlog of vehicle repairs is being tackled.

Residents are advised that from Monday 16 March a new service schedule will be implemented which will mean that refuse collection should not be delayed by more than

one day. Residents throughout the City are advised to bring their bins out by 07:00 in the morning and leave them outside until 21:00.

The City’s solid waste teams will continue to also work on weekends to clear any backlog which still exists.

“Excess refuse that cannot fit in the wheelie bins will also be collected until this problem is resolved. Residents are also implored not to resort to illegal dumping if collection delays cause refuse to build-up to the point where it cannot fit in the wheelie bins. The City apologises for this inconvenience. We want to thank our residents for their patience during this time while every effort is being made to restore normal services,’ said the City’s mayco member for water and waste, Xanthea Limberg.

Furthermore, the City is engaging with contractors to attempt to mobilise any additional capacity they may have available, and are increasing oversight in the service to ensure contingencies operate as designed.

According to the City’s Mayco member for finance, Ian Neilson, they have worked hard to ensure that the revised procedures do not have an indefinite negative impact on service delivery. “City financial experts have developed ways to speed up the procurement process in a manner that is compliant with the new audit and governance requirements while at the same time, together with our solid waste department, everyone has done their utmost to ensure that the impact on services is minimised wherever humanly possible,” said Neilson.

About the Koeberg Public Safety Information Forum

Section 26(4) of the NNR Act states that “The holder of a nuclear installation license must establish a public safety information forum as prescribed in order to inform the persons living in the municipal area in respect of which an emergency plan has been established on nuclear safety and radiation safety matters.”

What is the Public Safety Information Forum (PSIF)?

The PSIF is a meeting which takes place four times a year. It is used as a platform for residents within the municipal boundary of Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, to enquire about and receive nuclear safety related information from the facility.

Which topics are discussed?

The forum will address any topic that the members feel could impact their health, environment, and safety from a nuclear emergency preparedness point of view.

Who should attend?

All persons living within the municipal area around Koeberg, all affected and interested organisations or parties, and any other persons concerned about their health and safety from a nuclear and radiation safety point of view are welcome to attend the forum. Persons wishing to attend are requested to register as a member.

Banger vir stasie as vir selfisolasie Die tyd wat ons almal gevrees het, is nou uiteindelik hier.

Die laaste klompie weke lees ons en sien ons op die televisie hoe die gevreesde Covid 19-virus die markte laat tuimel het, grense toegemaak en mense vir weke op ’n boot vasgekeer is. Sportwedstryde en ander geleenthede waar baie mense bymekaar moet kom, is gekanselleer.

In my leeftyd het ek al baie flieks gesien van hoe virusse versprei en watter impak dit op die wêreld (gewoonlik net Amerika) het. Nooit het ek gedink dat ek die dag sal sien wanneer ons president voor die hele land sal staan en sê “my fellow South Africans” en dan die land tot ’n rampgebied verklaar nie. En grense en skole en wat nog moet toemaak om die inwoners van die land te beskerm nie.

Ek is seker daar is mense, veral leerders en studente, wat die langer vakansie gaan geniet. Ook van die werknemers wat nou van die huis af kan werk, dink seker dit is hemel op aarde.

Maar ons moet ’n oomblik stilstaan en dink aan diegene wie lewe daarvan afhang om baie mense bymekaar te hê.

Sportspanne en kunstenaars, maar veral die kunstenaars.

Baie kunstenaars is afhanklik van die inkomste wat hulle jaarliks tydens feeste genereer en die meeste groot feeste is afgestel.

Die Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees op Oudtshoorn dra jaarliks meer as R100 miljoen by tot die plaaslike ekonomie. Die afstelling beteken dat hierdie streek, wat reeds onder ’n droogte gebuk gaan, nog verder verarm. ’n Mens sidder om te dink hoe die armstes onder die armes hierdeur geraak word.

Dis ’n baie goeie ding dat skole vir langer gesluit word, maar hier moet ons dink aan die skole-voedingskema. Amper tien miljoen leerders ontvang kos by staatskole. Vir baie is die ete wat hulle by die skool kry die enigste vir die dag.

Gaan hierdie kinders vir ’n bykomende week sonder kos wees?

Wetenskaplikes beveel aan dat mense wat uit die buiteland kom of diegene wat vermoed dat hulle met ’n besmette persoon in aanraking gekom het, hulself isoleer. Daar is baie mense wat hul eie geselskap geniet. Sommige kreatiewes hou daarvan om afgesonder te wees, want dan kan kry hul kreatiwiteit vlerke.

Maar hoe nou gemaak met mense, soos die uwe, wat sy energie van ander mense kry?

Ek was klein toe ek reeds besef het ek kan nie te lank sonder ander mense wees nie. Dalk is dit omdat ek in ’n huis vol kinders groot geword het. Daar was altyd iets aan die gebeur in my ouerhuis en om ’n stil hoekie te kry vir enigiets, was ’n luukse.

Sedert die uitbreek van koronavirus het ek gedink, wat sal ek doen as ek gedwing word om in afsondering te lewe?

Boeke lees en flieks kyk en dalk bietjie skryf. Miskien skilder en baie tyd met my geliefdes deurbring. Tussendeur dalk na musiek luister waarvoor ek lanklaas tyd gehad het.

Ná ek lank oor al hierdie dinge gedink het, kom ’n moedswillige kollega en praat oor hoe dit op die Bellville-stasie gaan.

Volgens haar is daar siektes te kus en te keur op daai stasie. Die laaste keer wat ek daar was, het riool sommer vrylik gevloei en mense het sommer openlik water afgeslaan. ’n Onaardse stank het in die lug gehang en alles het net vuil gelyk.

Deur net daaraan te dink, begin ek sommer te jeuk. En ek sidder om te dink wat gaan gebeur as korona die wisselaar tref. – Brenden Ruiter

Dit is só maklik om te kla oor die rook van tuinvullis, maar ek is seker dieselfde persoon maak gereeld braaivure en almal word blootgestel aan die rook en reuk van vleis, al is jy vegetaries – jy moet maar daarmee saamleef. Soos die vrot vullisreuk jou pla, so pla die reuk van braaivure ander om jou.

En as jy net ’n vuur maak, affekteer daardie rookreuk ook ander se wasgoed op die lyn.

Ek hoop afdeling 19 van die Stad se ordonnansie oor die beheer van luggehalte het betrekking hierop ook.

Why not rather take on taxis?

It seems like traffic officers in Goodwood are too scared to take on taxis who commit traffic offenses daily and is targeting the man on the street. I attended a school fun walk at De Vrije Zee Primary School and to my shock, I got a traffic fine for parking. Since there was no parking at the school, all parents parked in the road without obstructing traffic.

Why not take on taxi drivers who drive like idiots and are a danger to society?

March, “Stop signs mean stop” (TygerBurger): Oh dear when it comes to drivers on the road this is only the very tip of the iceberg!

I wonder just what is being taught to learner drivers these days whether by instructors from driving schools or merely friends because the code of the road seems to have taken the back street. Why stop at a stop sign – this is time wasting – better to use it as a yield sign and if there happens to be a yield sign well ignore that all together. When nearing traffic lights - if amber it means beat the red! However, should you fail all you have to do is edge forward over the two pedestrian crossing lines so that you are geared and ready to move before the lights even change to green.

Once in the main stream do not heed the speed limit – that is for sissies – in any case who will be around to step out into the road to stop you. Go ahead and drive as you please! Should the driver in front of you display caution and happens to be driving slower – well he is just hogging the road. All you have to do is drive right up to the rear end of his vehicle so that he will be forced to make way for you.

If not. you could flash your lights, hoot or drive over the solid line or even the yellow demarcated area (which in fact indicates an invisible island of sorts). Do not at any time slow down, be courteous, be tolerant or be considerate – No! You have a licence (however it was obtained), you are the only one with the right of way, your motto must be: “King of the highway!”

Oh why do I bother to write

– it might well be just to air my anger and frustration. For no doubt the very many who not only ignore stop signs but every rule of the road will not take note. The next time behind the wheel sadly it could be into the role of late actor Paul Walker (Fast & Furious) – speed kills!

An abundance of blooms this year How surprised we were when we saw Rocco Bonafede’s picture in the TygerBurger (11 March) with his Spider Lilies.

We have had Spider Lilies for many years, but this year we have had an abundance of blooms. The lily seems to bloom between 19:30 and 20:00, but then only lasts a few days.

We have our Spider Lilies in a pot on the front veranda of our cottage. Last month we advertised the fact that the first blooms were about to open. For the last three weeks we have not disappointed the village residents who have come to view this magnificent flower.

We have also managed to capture a short video on the cellphone of the actual opening which takes a few seconds.

porting activity in the country has been brought to a grinding halt following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement on Sunday 15 May that the country is now in a state of disaster in response to the Covid-19.

In his address, Ramaphosa drove home the point that minimising contact between people is essential in curbing the spread of the virus, further stipulating that gatherings of 100 people or more will not be allowed. As a result, almost every major sporting body in the country has followed suit, by implementing immediate suspensions or cancellations of activity amid the ongoing uncertainty which surrounds the outbreak.

The Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation (WCPSC), which oversees multiple sporting codes and reports to the South African Sport Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC)

have been one of the first to take heed. “We request that all members in the sporting fraternity begin the immediate practice of social distancing,” reads the statement by WCPSC president JP Naudé.

The statement further outlines that all sport in the province is postponed or cancelled with immediate effect for at least the next two weeks. This includes clubs, district, provincial and national activity and includes junior and senior sports activities; amateur and professional sports gatherings; formal and informal sport gatherings; private and institutional sports gatherings; and competitions.

“Although the first action is a suspension of 14 days, this could change or be extended on further notice. We will continue to engage with our partners and the health authorities so that we may advise you with accurate and timeous information ... If ever there was a time for the sport to contribute to the nation, this is it.”

No more TygerRun this weekend The TygerRun, that was scheduled to take place on Saturday 21 March, has been postponed until further notice. A new date is still to be set, and will be communicated to runners, for the event that is presented by TygerBurger, Radio Tygerberg 104FM and Tyger Valley Shopping Centre.

Hardus Zevenster, chief executive officer of Radio Tygerberg, says: “We see the virus disruptions as an opportunity for South Africa to take the lead, take responsibility and set an example to not panic under real pressure and fake news. It is a chance to stand together, to help each other, and to encourage one another to succeed in difficult times. The only way to overcome the virus is not to take it lightly, but at the same time to make wellconsidered and responsible decisions for the benefit of everyone.”

Cricket season cancelled The Western Province Cricket Association has also announced

the cancellation of the rest of the cricket season. “To this end, the WPCA offices and Newlands Cricket Ground, is under lockdown until further notice,” read a statement issued by WPCA. As a result, most WPCA staff will work remotely, all club, youth and any other form of cricket is cancelled and all board and subcommittee meetings are cancelled.

Residents are also encouraged not to visit Newlands Cricket Ground in an effort to “to exercise social distancing and prevent the spread of the virus”.

Varsity Cup games postponed While a decision on the future of the Varsity Cup was not yet available at the time of print, the organisation chose to postpone all this week’s matches. “All FNB Varsity Cup matches for 16 March have been postponed. The FNB Varsity Cup Board will meet on Tuesday 17 March where a decision on the rest of the tournament will be taken,” read the statement.

Bodybuilding champs now in July The International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) Africa International Championship was due to take place in Bellville South this week. INBA Africa president, Alma Nel, confirmed the event’s postponement. “Following the announcement by the President last night (Sunday), we have decided to postpone our event to Saturday 11 July,” says Nel. First round of Power Series’ new heroes The first round of the regional Power Series presented at Killarney International Raceway on Saturday 7 March delivered superb motor racing in a new format, including a number of surprises from new faces and new machines.

Danie van Niekerk qualified on pole for the Mike’s Place Clubmans Saloons, but had to give best in Race 1, coming home behind Brennon Green, with Clint Rennard promoted to third.

Van Niekerk’s run of bad luck continued in Race 2, as he ran two seconds off his qualifying pace in ninth overall until he went out on lap six, while Green, Nieyaaz Modack, Michael le Sueur, Rennard, Mansoor Parker, Rafick Pather and Cody Albert made the running at the sharp end of the field.

Michael Hitchcock surprised everybody by grabbing the lead on lap one of the first BeJoTrustees fine cars and Millstock cars

Pre-1980 and Pre-1990 cars races in the Cross Cape Mustang and holding it until lap six, when Franco Donadio and his allconquering Ford Escort Mk1 relegated him to second.

Two laps later the Pony Car spun in G Energy corner and came to rest on the edge of the circuit with flames coming from the right rear wheel.

That was the end of Hitchcock’s race – and everybody else’s as well, as the red flags came out. Erik Mouton was classified second and Eric van der Merwe third in the Lynx Porsche 944T. Kewyn Snyman laid down his marker for the 2020 RST Suzuki South Superbike series title with a superb clean sweep of pole position, the fastest lap in each race and two race wins.

In der waarheid was dit net die Universiteit van Wes-Kaapland (UWK), Durbanville, Edgemead en Tygerberg wat wedstryde in hul guns kon beklink.

Bellville is seker die één Premierligaspan wat nie kan wag dat die huidige krieketsei-

soen op sy rug moet gaan lê nie.

In nog ’n teleurstellende vertoning is Bellville (86) deur Kaapstad-klub (219) gelooi.

Brackenfell (209) moes ook die knie buig voor die Universiteit Kaapstad (246) ondanks knap kolfwerk deur Ruan Vlok (77) en Lee-Roy Walters (61).

UWK (167/3) het maklik met Claremont (163) klaargespeel ná ’n uitstekende tweedepaaltjie-vennootskap van 108 lopies tussen Quinton Dreyer (79) en Givon Christians (54). Ook Durbanville (314/7) was hopeloos te sterk vir Langa (61) met die beste bydraes deur Jean Strydom (79), Jean Marais (71), Hayes van den Berg (59), Ulrich van Zyl (54), JT Schoeman (3/7) en Edward Schutte (3/14).

Noordelikes-Goodwood (96) is bloedneus gespeel deur Ottoman (269), terwyl Kuilsrivier (t United) en Kraaifontein (t Rylands) ook in die stof gebyt het.

Die Kraaie se Jeandré Jumat (37) en Craig Ephraim (3/17) het weinig ondersteuning van hul spanmaats gekry.

pion Ronald Slamet chased him for most of the race, until Snyman pulled the pin in the closing stages and pulled away to win by 9.413 seconds.

Behind them an epic four-way fight for third resolved itself into two separate duels as Gerrit Visser recovered from a poor start to make up two places and beat Bernard Haupt’s Fueled Racing R1 by 0.208sec for third.

The closest racing of the day, however, came from the teenagers of the Powersport 300 Class. Slade van Niekerk and David Lindemann finished fourth and fifth overall, separated by a scant 0.008sec, in Race 1 after swopping places four times in eight laps.

Lindemann got his revenge in Race 2 however, passing his arch-rival three laps from the end and holding onto a tenuous lead to come home 0.541sec ahead.
