Charity organisations still have until this Friday (13 January) to send in their motivations to become a beneficiary of this year’s Want ons Kan/’Cause we Can! concert. Almost R1,5 million rand has been raised for charity over the last nine years with the concert taking place for the 10th time this year. TygerBurger is the media sponsor of this popular event where some of the country’s top musicians and vocalists perform free. Some top acts have already confirmed their participation at the 2012 event, taking place on Sunday 29 July at the Bellville Civic Centre. They include Heinz Winkler, Emo Adams and Take Note, Brandon October, Adam, Alan Committie, Zanne Stapelberg and Broers. Charities that have benefited from the fundraising concert over the years include Meals on Wheels in Kraaifontein, Filia School, Badisa, Tehillah, Huis Jabes, Helping Angels and Rock a Bye Baby House. Morgan and Sabrina, two very playful kittens, were rescued along with their siblings from Eerste River by some of Aniwell’s rescue field workers. All of their siblings have found their furrever homes al ready, except these two. They are 15 weeks old and have been fully vaccinated. Adoption is through Aniwell, a registered animal wel fare organisation and subject to approval, home check and payment of adoption fee (which includes sterilisation, vaccinations and deworming). Meter reading changes The City of Cape Town’s water and sanitation department has reorganised its meter-reading rounds, which will affect the reading and billing periods of some customers.
