ver 150 frontline healthcare workers at the Dunoon Clinic in Milnerton were honoured on Wednesday 23 September as part of Heritage Day celebrations. Fair Cape Dairies hosted a braai for the workers in appreciation of their contribution and personal sacrifices made during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fair Cape Dairies provided platters, juices and desserts to the healthcare workers. The day also incorporated the clinic’s annual Heritage Day cultural costume competition. Dunoon clinic manager, Warren Caesar, said they were approached by Fair Cape Dairies who wished to show their appreciation to the clinic’s frontline workers. “They offered to hold a braai for Heritage Day and we were all in agreement with it.
It latches onto our culture of values at this facility. We have a very strong culture of team support and working together,” he said. “On a monthly basis, we try and do something for our staff like having a hot chocolate day, pancakes and team building. Although we get salaries, we need to say thank you and we need to appreciate staff on the softer matters of life. We included all our workers, as well as contracted staff which are our clean-
ers and security. We exist for our community and the security guards’ welcome makes our clients feel welcome at the facility,” Caesar said. The frontline workers were in awe of Fair Cape Dairies’ kind gesture, with most of them wearing traditional clothes to commemorate Heritage Day. One of the workers at the clinic, Gloria Smith, said they were very grateful. V To page 2
