Police arrest five after fatal shooting They shot and killed a Somali businessman in Wesbank, but 20 minutes later police were on their trail. The five suspects attempted to rob a Somali shop owner on Thursday evening at 21:30 at the corner of Diepwater Street and Wesbank Main Road, Mfuleni police said. “At approximately 21:50 the Flying Squad and Mfuleni police followed up information which led to the arrest of two suspects,” Capt Nomathemba Muavha of the Mfuleni police said. Muavha said Mfuleni detectives spent the night leaving no stone unturned. In the end, they caught up with the other three suspects – between 03:40 and 04:00 on Friday morning. “One of the suspects pointed out to the police where the shotgun which they had used, was hidden. The police found it in a wardrobe in a bedroom in Melwood Street
in Wesbank,” she said. The five suspects, youths aged between 17 and 21, appeared in court on Monday on charges of murder, attempted business robbery and the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
