According to Eskom, these lamps are far more efficient and use less electricity to provide the same level of brightness. Azusa Electrical Services has been contracted by Eskom to distribute the lamps and their workers can be identified through their bib colours. Workers in the Bellville nonurban area and Eversdal will wear sky blue bibs while workers in Welgemoed and Kenridge will wear red bibs. Eskom would also like to urge people to conserve energy by: . switching lights off when they are not required, . keeping light fixtures, shades and lamps clean, . using motion sensors for outdoor security lights, and . using a timer switch to turn lights on and off while away for long periods of time.
